The Clone Saga Rumor Reveals Which Spider-Man Is Reportedly Appearing In Prime Video Series

Following the news that Sony and Prime Video are teaming up for a TV series based on The Clone Saga, a new rumour reveals that at least one version of Spider-Man is set to appear in the show.

Earlier this week, the news broke that Sony and Prime Video are moving forward with a small-screen adaptation of the infamous Spider-Man story, The Clone Saga.

That likely closes the door on that story being brought to the big screen with Tom Holland's Peter Parker, and based on how Spider-Noir renamed its titular web-slinger "Ben Reilly," chances are no version of Peter will show up on streaming.

When the news broke about plans for The Clone Saga, the trades cautioned that fans should brace themselves for "significant changes." While Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker are the series' leads, the reports warned that the clones "could take on new identities."

Now, an update comes from insider @MyTimeToShineH, who confidently states that Ben Reilly will suit up as the Scarlet Spider in the show. Kaine didn't take on that moniker until much later in his life (and long after Ben died), so chances are he'll just be a take on the Kaine we know from those early comics in The Clone Saga series.

Fans expecting a faithful adaptation will likely be disappointed, but that doesn't mean the show doesn't still have serious potential. It sounds like Ben and Kaine will battle villainous clones like Spidercide, though there's likely a 50/50 chance of Clone Saga key players like Norman Osborn and The Jackal showing up. As for Spider-Man, even a nod to him might be expecting too much.

This latest claim comes after Daniel Richtman recently said, "It would be a buddy cop-style show with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, kinda like Lanterns. They discover they're clones, which leads to the show's main plot."

Ben Reilly and Kaine are arguably the two most important characters to emerge from Marvel's infamous "Clone Saga." Both were created as clones of Peter Parker by the Jackal, but their lives took very different paths.

Ben, who eventually adopted the Scarlet Spider identity, spent years travelling the country before returning to New York and briefly becoming the main Spider-Man. Kaine, meanwhile, was the first and most genetically unstable of Peter's clones, left physically scarred and embittered by his existence. Over time, however, Kaine evolved into a hero in his own right, most notably taking on the Scarlet Spider mantle in Houston.

This Clone Saga TV show sounds undeniably ambitious and stands a chance of being great if handled the right way. Comic book purists, however, may not appreciate potentially sweeping changes to the divisive 1990s crossover story.

Stay tuned for updates on The Clone Saga as we have them.

How do you even do this without the original Spider Man?

@Bucky74 - You shouldn't but worst case scenario you make it implied who they are clones of without explicitly giving the person's name. Similarly to how in Noir they left implied that his real name was something else.

@Bucky74 -

Its Sony, they dont care.

@Bucky74 - The official response from Sony and Amazon: Yes...to any and all questions. I personally would prefer SIlk tbh. Ben Reilly in the comics has been all over the place in recent years, even creating a new villain inadvertently while playing Peter who was in space...cuz reasons. He makes Kaine look sane by comparison. Living in a GOAT's shadow isn't easy though.

@Bucky74 - They'll be clones of a spider somehow transformed into a human.

If they are smart they should make an agreement with Marvel Studios and get this to be in the MCU. Have Tom Holland show up for a little bit and then continue with it. Come up with a good excuse as to why they don't look exactly like him.

All the spider man villains get the stepchild treatment. SMH they can’t just make a simple fun Spider-Man films like Raimi did.

@VampMime187cbm - It's like they're doing what Marvel did before their bankruptcy and original fire sale...except, they're not hurting for cash. They're just...Sonying. Amazon apparently learned the wrong lessons from Spider Noir too. I wouldn't even attempt this w/o some kind of Marvel involvement.

Wasn't a big fan of Batman Caped Crusaders, hopefully this one isn't all woke like that show and stays true to the source material.

@mastakilla39 - Again, what does woke mean? Black people already exist, gay people already exist, women already exist? Seriously asking

mastakilla39 - 10/1/2026, 11:05 AM
@abd00bie - We already know it exists, but forcibly adding it to an ip that never had it in the 1st place feels like forced propaganda. Woke to many means forced propaganda.

@abd00bie - They do, but some would prefer they stay at the fringes of society, at least when it comes to the LBGTQ...etc stuff. It challenges what they believe/accept and to some they feel like they're being beaten over the head with it. I don't always disagree, but I don't pay rent either. I'm comfortable with who I am, so...it's never affected me, the fam, etc. Bigger fish to fry. Plato or Homer make you think? Sure, okay. RuPaul makes you think, and that's just an example off the top of my head....shots fired. Like so many words today, there's what it "means" and what it's supposed to mean. At this point, I really couldn't tell you either.

Cool if true…

Honestly this sounds similar to what my take would be which is have Ben Reilly be this reality’s hero as The Scarlet Spider until one day he encounters a disfigured man named Kaine who says that the former stole his life and that he’s actually the real Ben Reilly hence we then follow these 2 men (who may be identical or look alike to an extent) as they get to the bottom of this mystery while begrudgingly working together.

Hell , you could make the show even more of a mind [frick] in that as they get deeper into the rabbit hole , they start to think that both may not be the original and are clones…

Maybe even leave it ambiguous as to whether they are clones of a Peter Parker or not while delving into themes of identity etc.

Anyway , I’m intrigued by this so hope it turns out well since I liked Spider-Noir quite a bit!!.

Lol, so weird having this without Peter Parker involved. They'd be better off doing a Spider-Man 2099 project with the rights issues.
