Who is Colm Feore playing in TASM 2? Sinister Six?

Is he simply Norman Osborn? Is he the Vulture and we're moving towards a Sinister Six film?

With the recent casting of Colm Feore in the Amazing Spider-man 2, I can't stop wondering who he's playing. The popular theory seems to be Norman Osborn, which makes sense but I've also seen suggestions that maybe he's going to play the Vulture or even J. Jonah Jameson. I just wanted to outline my thoughts and see what you guys had to said so here goes.

Let's start with Norman Osborn. This seems to be the general consensus but I'm not so sure and hope it's not true. Now with Dane Dehaan cast as Harry Osborn, it would make sense that Norman should show up in this film but I think the series could benefit from him remaining in the shadows for another installment. I hope to see the Green Goblin kill Gwen in the third movie but don't think the character needs to be a major focus this time. I do think however he should be the Big Bad behind the scenes pulling the strings so this very well could be the role Feore was cast for but the idea I have could point elsewhere.

I'll call this the Sinister Six theory and I know it sounds overly ambitious but if we can have six heroes share a film, why not six villains? A Sinister Six could be tied together in the film through Oscorp's various research technolgies. With Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Colm Feore could join their ranks as the Vulture. This makes three but also what about the man in the shadows played by Michael Massee last movie? Some had speculated that he was Norman Osborn but it seemed as if he teleported in and out of Connor's cell, maybe simply a trick of the eye and maybe he's Mysterio? Quite a leap I know but no more so than he has to be Norman Osborn. To round out the team, I suppose you'd have the Lizard return and either have Norman Osborn as the sixth member pulling the strings or add someone like the Scorpion as another villain easily explained by Oscorp tech. All these villains would battle Peter and in defeating them, he would figure out that Oscorp is behind it all, realizing the father of his "old friend" (so says the synopsis) is his greatest enemy. Whoever is cast as Norman could be shown at the end vowing that he need to take care of Spider-man himself leading to the Green Goblin in part 3.

I've also heard people kicking around the idea that Feore is going to play J. Jonah Jameson. Although I feel Colm Feore is a great actor, I really hope this isn't the role he was cast for. I just can't imagine him with a flattop and moustache chomping a cigar looking anything but ridiculous. J.K. Simmons did a wonderful job in the Raimi films and I know this series wants to distance itself from those but this is the one place it might be worth reconsidering.

Clearly you can tell where my hopes lie but I'm more likely totally wrong. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm still thinking Colm Feore is Norman Osborn, and I definitely agree that JK Simmons should come back as Jameson. It was spot on casting the first time, and anyone else they bring in, all I'll be thinking the entire time is ' Should've went with JK Simmons.'

I'm about 95% positive that Michael Massee is playing Norman Osborn, Felicity Jones is playing Betty Brant, and Colm Feore is playing J. Jonah Jameson.

I mean, seriously? Why would we only now be getting news that he (Feore) was cast? My theory is that Sony wanted to keep it under wraps, but it leaked out.

I'm pretty damn sure he'll play JJJ, which I have no problem with, because he's a fantastic actor.

Plus, you say you can't imagine Feore as JJJ. Did you imagine J.K. Simmons as JJJ before he appeared as JJJ in Raimi's trilogy? Probably not.

Anywho, those are my theories, I guess.

Michael Massee has been all but cast as Norman. His likeness was used for the 3D poster we see briefly at OSCORP in TASM. Either that, or someone who looks a LOT like him. Being me, I think he looks like the Illusive Man in that poster. :P

I can't see Feore playing JJJ. Unless they are going for an all new take on the character (which may be possible, but definitely not desired by anyone), we'd really be getting an extremely subdued performance by the actor. I'm not judging him based on Laufey - I've seen quite a few other ones, Riddick, Paycheck, the Borgias... he's just not bursting with energy - at all.

I'm pretty confident that the Rhino is only a rumor, and Paul Giamatti will be playing JJJ. I really don't like his voice, and I'm definitely not a fan of the actor, but he does have the wild intensity for it.

So back to Colm Feore - I'm willing to bet he's going to be Adrian Toomes, NOT the Vulture.... not yet, but some rival for Osborn to contend with. He clearly has the appearance for such a character, and if they're going with the Ultimate route, then yes indeed, Toomes would be involved with a rival company.

But there's another possibility few have mentioned - could he be Dr Miles Warren? Apart from the Green Goblin, Warren is the only villain to have any real connection to Gwen. Seems like it would be a wasted opportunity not to explore that route, especially if the powers that be are spying on Peter.

Time will tell.

I don't get why people are so attached to J.K. Simmons J. Jonah Jameson, sure he was awesome, spot-on casting and evrything, but I think it's weird to bring the exact same actor to play the exact same character from the previous instalment of the franchises. Plus we don't know how awesome some other actor might be as Jameson.

There are certain performances that can be compared to a marriage. JK Simmons was "the one". You bring in any other actor, whether its Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, or John DiMaggio with a dye-job... And everyone and their mom will be comparing him to JK Simmons. He's just perfect.

I can't remember seeing Colm in anything before, so I can't judge his acting abilities. I really hope he's not Norman though, and Massee is playing him. I thought their idea for Norman was that he was sick, and using experiments done by Conners, he creates the formula and becomes the Goblin, but now I don't know. It sure sounds like they are gearing up for the Sinister Six, which I hope is true. If Harry becomes Goblin, I hope its due to Norman testing the formula on him first without Harry knowing it. That would be a great way to show how [frick]ed up Norman is.

@Soto I don't think TASM2 takes place a year after the last one. The official synopsis talks about Peter dealing with high school graduation, and he was in the middle of his senior year in the last film.

@Tainted, I thought that about Warren after I saw TASM. On the drive home all I could think about was the possibility of the clone saga. If Michael Massee is in TASM 2 I hope he's the genetics leturer at Peter's college. As for Colm Feore, I'm expecting him to be Vulture. Giamatti can fudge off he's a horrible choice for any CBM role... Maybe not the Blob.

@Soto It would be incredibly stupid for Norman to nevr be featured and never become green goblin. Highly doubt they'll completely ignore his character. Thats sort of like if a Batman movie teased the Joker but never introduced him kinda.

I'm inclined to agree with Soto, but Norman is the Green Goblin, and Gwen's killer. He's just too important a character to not show, especially since they went to all the trouble of having Richard Parker work for Osborn.
