Possible SPOILER On Another Way SUICIDE SQUAD Connects With BATMAN V SUPERMAN

We already know there's a chance Batman will at the very least get a mention in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, but now we have another interesting tidbit relating to Adanda Waller (Viola Davis) and the contents of her trophy case! Again, beware of possible SPOILERS ...

Though the following probably won't have a direct bearing on the plot of this movie, the latest Suicide Squad scoop from El Mayimbe definitely sets up some interesting stuff for future films, and might give us an idea of what to expect when it comes to a certain character in Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. We were deliberately vague in the teaser so as not to spoil the surprise, but word is Amanda Waller is going to have Aquaman's trident (the very one being grasped by Jason Momoa in the above image) in her trophy case under the prison where she keeps all of the supervillians she recruits for Task Force X.

How did she come by this? How will the King of Atlantis be relieved of it in Batman V Superman? We'll have to wait just under a year to find out, but it's an intriguing bit of info I'm sure you'll agree.

Seems like a bit of a stretch. But, it could be setting up for a larger conflict involving Atlantis.

So this human woman has arguably the most powerful weapon in the DC Universe and there isn't full fledge war going on to get it back. r..i..g..h..t..

Dammit, I've been shit at picking which article will survive the purge lately.

Anyways, so BvS has to set up Lex Luthor, set up Batman, continue Superman's story (and everyone else involved in Man of Steel), get the 2 to fight, have them make up and work through their misunderstanding, go after Lex, fight and defeat Doomsday (or whoever he sics on them), introduce Wonder Woman, introduce Aquaman, and then also explain how and why his trident ends up with Amanda Waller?

I can just imagine the runtime for this haha. It's gotta be close to 3 hours, right?

xmenlover - 3/26/2015, 7:29 AM
What he just dropped it on the shores of the Atlantic ocean and Amanda walked by and said oh this is Auqamans trident lets keep this underground with batmans utility belt he left at Arkham. Like wtf
SymbioteJoker
SymbioteJoker - 3/26/2015, 7:32 AM
To my knowledge, the trident is worthless to anyone else. So whats the point of the government, or Waller for that matter, having/caring about it? Because the only reason I could see someone else having it is either A: a collector or curator or B: someone with magic knowledge keeping it out of the wrong hands (like in the Tower of Fate or the Rock of Eternity)

I do have to say that I'm looking forward to all the other ways the filmmakers decide to connect Suicide Squad and BvS to each other. They really have so many creative options in dropping easter eggs (whether they're items, locations, or even entire characters), and it should be fun to watch and look out for.

@SauronsBane "I can just imagine the runtime for this haha. It's gotta be close to 3 hours, right?"

I'm not sure how them taking their time would be much of a bad thing, an I doubt many would be complaining if it's three hours long.

I feel like this movie will be intensely watchable, fun and cool. I feel like BvS will be a mess. I hope both make enough money to get the DC universe started and they don't end up scrapping a lot of these movies.

@SauronsBane.

A:AoU sets up for Ant Man, Civil War, Thor 3, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Infinity War and has a screen time of 2 hours 35 minutes, so expect BvS to have a screen time of something similar.

SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 3/26/2015, 7:41 AM
@TheCardist Yeah I probably didn't phrase that the right way, but I actually didn't mean for that to sound like a negative haha. I know I'd happily sit through 3 hours of a Batman v Superman movie.

But it's weird, because most tentpole blockbusters try to avoid the 3 hour tag as much as they can. Less runtime means more chances to actually have showings of the movie, which means more money. Plus it encourages repeat viewings (and more money again, obviously), since the general audience usually don't like longer movies. It'll be interesting to see if WB/DC gives Snyder a fight over the runtime at all.
TheGeekKid
TheGeekKid - 3/26/2015, 7:43 AM
@TeddyDuchamp.

Green Lantern's power ring is the the most powerful weapon in DC universe, but as a matter of speaking we just heard his trident got stolen and we heard nothing else right, a full out Atlantean panic and search could happen, let's not jump into conclusions this soon.

@SauronsBane

There was this HUGE DC leak and it talked more about the DCCU as a whole and behind the scenes stuff rather than plot points in junk. Witihin it said that after the rough/first edit there was 3-5 hours of footage.

It also referenced the crowdedness you spoke of. You can highlight the below if you don't care about spoilers.

WW has an important role, but she doesn’t have a lot of time here. This is not second "IM2" or "TASM2", but also not second "TDK" or "Avengers". It's just something “different”. Quite unique. Subtitle: "Dawn of Justice" is very misleading. WW is more on the third plane, Aquaman and Cyborg are ‘extras’. “BvS” is mainly “MoS” sequel then a movie about Batman and Superman.

Main characters: Superman> Batman> Luthor. Superman has more screen time, but Luthor has more dialogue / and literally a few interesting monologues. Final sequences BvS: Batman vs Superman fight –then----> Batman, Superman, WW vs Luthor drones (project "Metallo" reference) Batman and Superman fight is not finished, it’s interrupted by Luthor. When they fight Batman cheats (a looooot) and Superman is weakened.

So if that gives you any more confidence lol. Take that with a grain of salt, but yeah. The entire article is really interesting and you can check it out here.
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 3/26/2015, 7:44 AM
@TheGeekKid I'm not sure the two are all that comparable, since we have a better idea of how the plot of AoU lends itself towards naturally setting up the other movies (for example, Ultron going to Wakanda and encountering Klaw sets up BP, Tony's actions with Ultron sets up Civil War, Thor will encounter...something that leads to Ragnarok, etc).

That could obviously change, of course, once we see a teaser or even get a more detailed synopsis of what actually happens in BvS.

And actually, was that runtime even ever confirmed to be the official one for AoU?

How did she steal something from the king of a city that's UNDER WATER I guess aquaman isn't as edgy as Snyder made him look

I`ll say it again, if they want easter eggs, its better to go with Waller`s collection of rogues. This would never happen, but dammit I want Solomon Grundy in a cell.

Flagg: What the hell...is that?
Grundy:*in a daze* Born on a Monday....
Waller: We`re not sure. Whatever it is, and despite our best efforts, it cannot die. I want to know why
Grundy: *turns his gaze to Waller* Grundy kill you dead.....
Waller: You first *shocks him*

Best Twitter Response:

1) Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's Chamber.

2) Aquaman's Trident in Waller.

WB never said no ones knows about Atlantis, i mean it would be like, the general population doesn't know about Atlantis but the Government knows, remember what the previous scoop was, Amanda Waller's department is in full fledged research on finding and capturing meta humans, when US government takes things into hands, especially in spying no one can hide from the. :p

Aquaman would kill her where she stood before letting that trident go to ARGUS. Maybe the script page read "Amanda ponders trident which catches her eye but ultimately she decides to go with an altoid."
