The latest issue of Empire Magazine, which features the members of Task Force X on the cover has offered up intriguing details about some of the villain's the Skwad could be facing. Firstly, the Joker (Jared Leto) will be accompanied by 'a tubby cosplay Batman' and other henchman dressed as 'a devil goat and a sea urchin.' Bring on the memes!
Secondly, although the film's main antagonist remains a mystery, we now know that he, or she, will have minions that came to director David Ayer in a dream. Ayer recounts his strange dream of 'a black pool of liquid with a human shape rising out of it... all shiny and covered with liquid.' He initially thought the creatures were covered in a frog-spawn like substance before realising what he was seeing was eyes. In a pre-production meeting the very next morning, Ayer drew the creature, named the 'Eyes of the Adversary,' and they became the minions the Suicide Squad will need to fight, presumably in the final showdown in Midway City.
The movie's cast have not been shy in sharing the insane preperation that went into occupying their character's headspace. Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) was told by David Ayer to 'go to the forest alone at night, under the full moon, and become like an ainimal,' which the actress complied with. However, Australian actor, Jai Courtney (Boomerang), had an even weirder encounter with Ayer who shaved Courtney's head upon their first meeting. Later, on a video call, Courtney pushed his mental prep further by putting out cigarettes on his arm. Recalling that night, Courtney said: 'I happened to eat some murshrooms and I did self-inflict some burns.'
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself? Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, with Raymond Olubawale as King Shark, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Directed by David Ayer.
