A Peacemaker audition tape has been shared online by Reddit user u/aduong, and it spotlights the type of hilarious, NSFW dialogue you'd expect to hear from writer-director James Gunn with an R-rating at his disposal.
The video footage sees actor Tony Sancho read for the role of an unnamed prisoner. The guy he's speaking to says he's been locked up for "superhero shit," and claims to be a character named Miracle Man. Over the course of their conversation, we learn that Aquaman... well, let's just say he has something in common with Luca Brasi from The Godfather!
There's speculation that the character Sancho is auditioning for might turn out to be a sidekick to John Cena's Peacemaker (Tank Man and Gangbuster have been suggested), but that obviously remains to be seen.
Peacemaker also stars Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang and Christopher Heyerdahl.
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that the series is expected to explore the origins of Peacemaker, a man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
Gunn is writing and directing the show, which was ordered to series last September. Cena's titular antihero will make his debut in The Suicide Squad, which is set to debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max this August.
