THE SUICIDE SQUAD: HBO Max Promo Reveals More New Footage, And It's "Dope As F***"

HBO Max has shared a promo teasing its 2021 slate of blockbuster movies, and there's some awesome new footage from The Suicide Squad, including a fun exchange between Peacemaker and Bloodsport...

We're still waiting to see the first trailer for The Suicide Squad, but a new HBO Max promo which has been released today features a few new snippets of eye-catching footage.

For starters, we see original Task Force X members Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) sharing a smile as they head into battle together; hopefully, that's a hint this reboot/sequel will touch on the events of 2016's Suicide Squad to at least some extent.

A little later in the promo, Peacemaker (John Cena) and Bloodsport (Idris Elba) butt heads when the latter points out that no one likes a show-off. Peacemaker's response? They do when the person showing off is "dope as f***!" It's safe to say the former pro wrestler could be a highlight here.

A Peacemaker TV series is also in the works for HBO Max, and while theaters will hopefully be open by August, The Suicide Squad is also currently destined for the streaming service (which is the case for Warner Bros.' entire slate in 2021 thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Plenty of other big movies are highlighted here, and for those of you who might be interested, the first footage from King Richard and Reminiscence can also be found.

Take a look at the promo in the player below:

Saw "HBO Max" and "Suicide Squad" together in a sentence and thought some dildo greenlit Ayer's (new) cut. Whew.

I know it’s almost certainly deliberate, but that helmet does not sit well on Cena’s head

Certainly a good idea for "smaller" movies that wouldn't do well in theatres otherwise but for tentpoles...I'm not so sure. We'll see how they fare.
Not a fan of that strategy, still.

@Blergh - I think this is as best a compromise as we can expect. They do need to release these movies, as no business can survive almost a year of zero business. I'm just curious if anyone will try theaters all things given.

@Origame - If we don't step up our vaccination game in the U.S. then 2021 is [frick]ed.
Already, the UK/California variant of COVID-19 is here, and some suggest the South African variant has hit our shores with the Brazilian variant to follow.

If enough of us aren't vaccinated by June, we're in big trouble.

I'll be surprised if US movie theaters are back to full capacity even by Q4 this year, so I'm actually warming up to this deal. Especially since the alternative is a slew of delays like every other studio seems to be doing.
Excited for The Suicide Squad, Dune, J&TBM and that Sopranos film. Thought the Godzilla vs Kong trailer was ass, but I get that I'm in the minority there.
