When Tom Hardy left Suicide Squad, there were numerous reports as to why. Some said it was down to a scheduling conflict, while others reported that he was unhappy with the script. Whatever the real answer might be, the British actor is sticking to the reason which was given by the studio, and told Collider the following: "There’s a very practical element as to why I’ve missed out on that foray, which is because Alejandro [G. Inarritu] has overshot by three months in Calgary, so we’ve got to go back out to Patagonia or Alaska to continue shooting The Revenant which has turned into a much bigger beast than we thought, but that also looks exceptional." As much as we hear BS from actors when stuff like this happens, I happen to believe Hardy is being truthful here, especially as he seems genuinely disappointed to have missed out on the role of Rick Flagg.

After praising the studio's decision to replace him with Joel Kinnaman, Hardy went on to reveal why he's disappointed to miss out on a role in Suicide Squad. "Warner Bros. is my home studio and I love them so I was really bummed out. I wanted to work on that and I know the script is really [frick]ing alley and I also know what’s gonna happen with The Joker and Harley Quinn in that; I won’t give away too much…it’s [frick]ing alley. And that whole territory is something that I would certainly—I mean, everybody loves The Joker. Everybody loves The Joker. Will Smith is a dope guy, but everybody loves The Joker and that’s gonna, I think, be a very important film for fans." For those of you wondering, "alley" is basically slang for well done or good, and his excitement about these two characters in particular seemingly indicates that they'll have a significant role together in the movie. As always, be sure to share your thoughts on these comments below.
