THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Responds To Steven Soderbergh: "Some People Are F*cking"

Earlier today, we reported on director Steven Soderbergh's suggestion that superhero films are sexless, and James Gunn has now responded by pointing out that some people are f*cking in certain CBMs.

James Gunn (The Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy) has taken to Twitter to share a response to fellow filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, who said he couldn't envision himself writing or helming a superhero movie because he feels the genre is sexless during a recent interview.

The Kimi director was asked for his views on superhero cinema, and explained that because "the fantasy-spectacle universe typically doesn’t involve a lot of [frick]ing," he had no interest in working on a superhero project. While it's true that most comic book-based films don't tend to feature love scenes or even much in the way of sexual discussion, there are a few notable exceptions.

As Gunn points out in his Tweet, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker both include sex scenes, while there's even a strong suggestion that Yondu had a rendezvous with an alien hooker in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

These aren't the only examples, of course, as Chloe Zhao's Eternals actually included the MCU's first proper sex scene... even though the tryst between Sesi and Ikaris was criticized for being a little tame. There's only so far a PG-13 rating can be pushed when it comes to sex and nudity, though.

Regardless, Soderbergh's comments are a little odd! Is it really that important to see characters hook up in a superhero movie? And just because we don't often witness them in action (as it were), doesn't mean it's not supposed to have happened offscreen.

What do you guys think? Be sure to let us know in the usual place.
