Ma Kent Actress Reviews Supergirl, Leaked Clayface Trailer, Possible Lanterns Episode 4 Spoilers

In this DCU roundup, we have Superman star Neva Howell's review of Supergirl, new footage from a leaked Clayface trailer, and a possible spoiler for upcoming episodes of Lanterns.

Neva Howell first played Ma Kent in 2025's Superman movie, and she's set to reprise the role in James Gunn's Man of Tomorrow next summer. Milly Alcock's Supergirl will also return in that movie after taking centre stage this past June in her own solo outing.

Supergirl drew mixed reviews from fans and critics, and its disappointing box office performance has closed the door on a sequel. However, that doesn't mean Milly Alcock's Woman of Tomorrow won't have a recurring presence in the DCU beyond next summer's Superman sequel.

Howell has now shared her review of Supergirl. While she echoed many people's complaints—including Krem of the Yellow Hills being an underwhelming villain and the movie's fight scenes—it sounds like she overall had a good time with the second chapter in the Superman Saga.

The marketing campaign for Clayface should start picking up soon—the movie will be released next month, remember—and a new cut of the trailer is currently playing in theaters.

The few snippets of new footage include a masked Matt Hagen and the Hollywood actor-turned-shapeshifting monster attacking Eddie Marsan's character. Hopefully, at least one more trailer will be officially released in the coming weeks.

Still, whatever any future sneak peeks reveal, it's worth remembering that Clayface's final form will not be revealed in any marketing materials. That could always change depending on box office tracking, of course.

Finally, we have a potential spoiler for this Sunday's episode of Lanterns. When a fan noticed that John Stewart will wield a ring with a different design from Hal Jordan's, the show's prop master replied, "Indeed he did."

Based on how the series has played out so far, it appears John will refuse Hal Jordan's Green Lantern Corps ring, and the Guardians of the Universe will give it to Guy Gardner instead. John getting a new ring in the 2026 timeline adds up, especially if he refuses in 2016.

Unfortunately, as things stand, all signs point to Lanterns ending with Hal no longer being a Green Lantern. The writing has been on the wall for a while, though, as John will be the DCU's main Lantern.

The movie was not good. The quicker we move on the better. There are more DC movies we should shift our attention too.

No Hal Jordan, no Green Lantern. Period.

These agenda pukes have ruined both Iconic Hal and excellent John Stewart. I hope everyone responsible gets 23 venereal diseases in the most uncomfortable places.

@DocSpock - Absent Green Lantern altogether, why do you like “excellent John Stewart”?

@IAmAHoot -

My favorite run of the comics was the Neal Adam’s GL/GA run and the first couple of years after John was introduced.

Clayface looks good - but would've been better off as a box sets. Supergirl wasn't that bad - just that she's a sidekick, nobody really wanted a standalone movie. Lanterns is awesome- something I predicted and everyone laughed.

@harryba11zack - it's bad, but somehow looks better than what we've seen on Lanterns. At least the shoulder pads are reasonable..... probably for child safety

That thumbnail pretty much sums up James Gunn’s version of the DCU. The only thing missing is full frontal male nudity and “pocket dimensions”.

I’m done with Lanterns, definitely not seeing Clayface unless I hear it’s getting Weapons/Obsession/Backrooms level reviews and I’m even on the fence with Man of Tomorrow-which I’m 90% is going to make Lex the actual hero over Superman(and somehow certain people on this site will still try to justify)

Neva Howell seems like a genuine sweetheart and was a delight as Ma Kent in Superman so looking forward to seeing her in MOT as of now.

Anyway , Guy’s ring has a different design then Hal’s so I don’t think he got it…

Plus , Guy was chosen sometime between the 2016-2026 timeline so that doesn’t add up either since Hal seemingly just died in the latter year!!.

The main issue of Supergirl wasn't Krem nor the lack of good visuals that did justice to the source material nor even the fight scenes or Lobo.

The crux of the movie is that Kara is a two-faced murderer who talks the talk to Ruthye about why it's wrong to get revenge on Krem and how it is not gonna change what happened nor it will bring her over time the catharsis she is searching for and each time she repeats it to her it's with better arguments than the last time.

And what that she does at the end? She goes back on her word of and kills him anyway and the movie doesn't make a point in questioning that.

It's that simple. So I find it incredible that not even Ma Kent's actress is capable of seeing it.

Even this video nails it.
