SUPERGIRL Rumored To Be Undergoing 2 Weeks Of Reshoots, Possibly To Add Scenes With [SPOILER]

According to a new rumor, DC Studios' Supergirl is currently undergoing two weeks of additional photography, possibly to include scenes with a certain other super-powered hero...

Supergirl wrapped principal photography back in May, but as is generally the case with any major studio comic book movie, reshoots were scheduled shortly after.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, cameras are currently rolling again for what will amount to two weeks of additional photography, and he believes this will mainly be to include scenes with David Corenswet's Superman.

This could explain why the Superman costume that was on display at the Warner Bros. Studio Tours exhibit was removed and replaced with a note reading, "Superman costume currently being used by production." There was speculation that it might have something to do with Man of Tomorrow, but James Gunn's next DCU movie is still only in the very early stages of development.

According to a recent report from THR, "Supergirl had a quiet screening on the Burbank lot with a select group of executives and a few members of James Gunn's trusted DC stable."

The trade didn't reveal any details, but a couple of reliable scoopers have claimed to have heard great things about the movie, and we wouldn't be surprised if some first reactions begin to filter through over the next couple of weeks.

In a recent interview, writer Ana Nogueira spoke about what attracted her to this "rougher and grittier and edgier and funnier" take on the character.

"She watched Krypton completely be destroyed. I was always like, 'I can’t get my head around the version of the character that is so sunny.'"

Milly Alcock will reprise her role as Kara Zor-El after making her DCU debut in the closing moments of Superman.

Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow will also star 3 Body Problem's Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) as the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. Jason Momoa is also set to debut as Lobo.

The latest casting additions were David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara's parents, Zor-El and Alura.

Warner Bros. announced that our new Girl of Steel will take flight on June 26, 2026.

This take on Kara Zor-El a said to be a "less earnest and more edgy version of the iconic superheroine" as Gunn looks to move away from "previous depictions of the Girl of Steel, particularly the long-running CBS/CW series fronted by Melissa Benoist."

According to a brief synopsis, this story will follow Kara as she "travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge."

Gunn and Peter Safran announced the Supergirl reboot during their studio press day in January of last year, when the "Gods and Monsters" DCU slate was revealed. The project will be at least partially based on King’s acclaimed comic book series of the same name from 2022.

Said Gunn at the time, “In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

@TheVisionary25 - It’s perfect for the Gunn haters that go out of their way to express their displeasure. 😆

@TheVisionary25 - you have to add that this movie is unwatchable and then you’re spot on.

Box office is going to be mighty interesting for this one.

@thedrudo - Either it makes less than Superman, which would make sense but also be very bad or it would make more than Superman which would be even worse when you think about it. Supergirl makes more than James Gunn's Superman the premiere movie of the DCU?

@ObserverIO - after everyone has seen Superman and since this has two returning characters, plus Momoa as Lobo guarantees a big win. You're the same type of person who complains when Superman is barely below MoS and only lost to that overrated crap because of China. Damned if they do, damned if they don't lmao

@bobevanz - It didn't? You literally just said that it made even less than MOS.

@ObserverIO - I think it making more than Superman is actually a good thing. Ideally whe universe building, you want to be more successful with each new project so for me, that’s a win if it does better.

@ObserverIO - hey, a win is a win, and it could signal rising momentum. Iron Man made less than 600mil, while Iron Man 3 doubled that and it’s a much worse movie than the original. From the POV of Gunn and the studio, increasing interest and earnings is most likely a good thing regardless of which movie came first.

Reshoots to add scenes with Battinson?

Oh, Corenswet. Ok. *sigh*

"There was speculation that it might have something to do with Man of Tomorrow, ..."

@MarkCassidy - I believe that was mostly this site and @JoshWilding doing a lot of the speculation 😄

I kid of course. This site is beyond my favorite and you guys do a fantastic job .... despite all the b1tching people like to do on here

That said, I'm excited for this film. Not just because I want to watch Milly flying around in that awesome red skirt (that is a big reason though!).
I like the take I believe the writer/director is taking and the film sounds potentially great.

Now, what the heck is up with Lobo and this film? If he was in it, wouldn't we have heard something about it since a majority of the film is already shot? Viewers wanna know!!!!!

@lazlodaytona - PTSD Supergirl is narratively 1000% more interesting than Babysitter Supergirl who was decades late arriving for her job. Don't get me wrong, I DID love the first season of the Supergirl series and the character was very loveable, just not enough character layers to it to explore and develop and too easily can turn out like a caffiene free diet version of Superman as a result over time.

I'm looking forward to seeing the vibe of this film. I'm hoping beyond hope that it has its own vibe and isn't just another James Gunn vehicle, because I'm completely exhausted by James style with DC and honestly have zero interest in watching anything from him ever again at this point. I've seen what the dude offers up and it's not for me.

Here we [frick]ing go again with the “just two weeks” of [frick]ing reshoots.
Why is it always “just” when it’s [frick]ing obvious they’re scrambling?
If this is to cram in some last-minute Superman scenes, then [frick]ing say that, don’t pretend it was always the plan.
You don’t put the Superman suit back into [frick]ing circulation unless something changed.
This whole thing screams “good but not good enough,” and that’s [frick]ing fine, just own it.
Stop acting like this was part of the [frick]ing creative vision all along when you’re clearly course-correcting midair.
That said, if it gives us more of David Corenswet as Superman and actually ties this shit together, then [frick]ing go for it.
But if this turns into another rushed, half-baked cameo-fest with zero [frick]ing emotional payoff, then what’s the [frick]ing point?

For [frick]s Sake
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 10/26/2025, 7:22 PM
@THEKENDOMAN - I mean it could just be to do an end credit now that they have a more solid idea what they are doing next with Superman. Doesn't sound like they are adding David to the main narrative as would require way more than two weeks for that level of overhaul and if true they are all happy with the screening why would they make any significant changes?
THEKENDOMAN
THEKENDOMAN - 10/26/2025, 7:56 PM
@Apophis71 - That’s a fair [frick]ing point matey. If the screening went well, then no need for major surgery.

But it still feels like they’re [frick]ing stitching things together after the fact.

Could be a simple post-credits tease, sure, but why not plan that shit properly during principal photography like every other major studio?

Two weeks might not be a massive overhaul, but it still says something shifted behind the scenes, whether it’s strategy or just last-minute [frick]ing clarity.

I just don’t want this to turn into another case of “trust the [frick]ing plan” when they’re clearly still writing it.
