Deadline is reporting that Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson has signed on to voice Krypto the Super Dog in the animated DC League of Super-Pets movie. The actor's production company, Seven Bucks, has also boarded the project.
Written and directed by Jared Stern (Sam Levine is co-directing), DC League of Super-Pets is set to be released on May 20, 2022, and the trade notes that it's a movie "Warner Bros. brass are really impressed by." It's going to be a busy Memorial Day weekend next year, as this animated feature will be squaring off with Mission: Impossible 7 and John Wick: Chapter 4.
The rest of the voice cast is expected to be announced in due course, but if Johnson's involvement is any indication, the plan is to put together an A-List ensemble.
Patricia Hicks, Jared Stern and, under their Seven Bucks Productions banner, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia are producing the film. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller are executive producing. Seven Bucks is also producing the Black Adam movie Johnson is in the midst of shooting.
Clearly, the actor is making a home for himself in the DC Extended Universe, and Black Adam is a character who we're definitely expecting to stick around in live-action for a long time to come.
As for DC League of Super-Pets, the pets belonging to characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are all expected to take centre stage and save the day in place of their owners.
