Brainiac Concept Art from Tim Burton's Superman Lives

I'm guessing Tim Burton enlisted a 3 year old to be his Concept Artist. Just Saying.

Two Superman Lives pre-production paintings from Burton’s current Museum of Modern Art and, accompanying book. The Art of Tim Burton

Pictured is Brainiac. Tim Burton wanted Pierce Brosnan for the role.

The second is of uh...Living Kryptonite...?

Good call TNT. He's not the right person for Superman and thank goodness we only got a disappointment from Singer. I think Burton might have caused riots.

yeah I see these sketches and it reminds me of the giant robo-spider showing up in wild wild west. It's like he was,"screw it I worked hard on these concepts! I'm gonna use them in another movie!"

Tim needs to stick with the darker characters. I personally like the original Batman. Of course much better than tragedy of Batman 3 & 4. I would watch a Sandman or Spectre movie by Tim.

People seem to forget Batman and Batman Returns, neither of which contained Johnny Depp, granted now he's been using him in every damn movie lately, however, that does not detour the fact that he is a good director, and with Kevin Smith's writing, it could have been an awesome movie.

honestly, if you read the script, Nick Cage makes perfect sense as Superman. And I am by no means the biggest supporter of Burton, but I am a fan of Stan Winston, and you should see how different the concept art for Edward Scissorhands was from what Stan made...the weird drawings weren't accurate descriptions of what he wanted, they were more like charactures. If these sentences aren't strung together coherently, that's probably because I'm not really awake yet...so, er, sorry if I ramble

To anyone who hasnt heard this already. Supeman Returns was actually supposed to be allot more like an amalgam between the movie and the game.

Lex teamed up with Metallo. He used the crystals for the Kryptonian Military tech too. The Kryptonite island was to give an infinite energy source to Metallo and keep superman away. And Lex made up the rumor that Krypton was still around to get superman away.

This is to SHH mostly but to anyone who wants to see Tom Welling as Superman:

eljayson, that seems rather harsh and ignorant. I never did get the whole gay stigma about SUPERMAN RETURNS. Sure, Singer was on THE ADVOCATE with the headline, "How Gay Is SUPERMAN?" but it was a comparison of Clark hiding behind the glasses (as if in the closet) to what gay men go through. Singer may be gay, but he is a decent director and personally, I tought RETURNS was good, just too slow. There was only one real action scene, and yes, I was no fan of superkid and Lex once again being the villain, but the story was good.

This is what all his set design sketches look like... you should see his sketches of the bat mobile.

Honestly, I would've loved for this movie to have gotten made, I think it would've been interesting as hell.

You know what I think would've made this movie actually acceptable and far more interesting? Change the title to simply "ELSEWORLD"

@ deadwebhead

yeah, if it was an elseworlds movie it would have been fine...except it wasn't. this was going to be the new superman. thats just terrible.

@ contrast

how would nic cage make sense as clark?? he's a terrible actor, he's balding, and he's the furthest thing from tough looking as you could possibly get. sorry, i just think nic cage should be loaded onto a plane and flown into a volcano.

There's a few things wrong with everyone's perspective on this vision. Other than nic cage as supes the producer behind the film was pushing a huge spider villain to fight (check out the interviews with Kevin Smith) so i'm sure it was a concept that worked in Braniac in some sort of cyborg spider form. The common concept pic of superman seen is also hinted at being a bizarro concept. So thus far instead of a bastad child, lex luthor, and kryptonie in Bri-man's version we have *gasps* actual super villains to fight supes! I think Burton might have had a better vision honestly
