Question: You were recently chosen as the director of Superman. What have you done to defeat other talented directors and what are you planning to do with this new version?

Zack Snyder: I'm not sure what I've done, it wasn't like a run race, which would have been easier to do. Anyway, I think that you have to do your best to describe this world and that the character of Superman needs to be relevant again, without disrespecting his mythology. That's my goal.

Question: The general Zod will be the villain of the movie or it's just a rumour?

Zack Snyder: For now it's just a rumour.

General Zod says, "Kneel before before Spell Check!" Aww, I'm just kidding. I'm not sure how many people thought Zod was going to be the villain anyway. But that's okay, they're not going to use my choice villain (Eradicator) either.

Have we started a betting pool as to who it will be yet?

And Snyder says "FOR NOW its just a rumour", he could easily change his mind, the movie is still two years from a potential release date. Zod might still be the villain, and I know tonnes of you will disagree with me but I think he should be the villain

Make a modern Zod, it would be awesome, the movie wouldnt have to be an origin story but it could link in with Superman's origins as Superman has to fight the one other survivor of his homeworld. Then something Zod does in the first movie leads to the creation of Brainiac or Brainiac being called to Earth in a sequel. Then with all the aliens coming to Earth, Luthor makes Bizarro to fight the potential "alien invader" that is Superman. With one trilogy like this, Doomsday could be the major villain of the next trilogy

this does not confirm Zod wont be in the reboot. he only said "For now it's just a rumour" he could be hiding the truth.

personally i dont want to see Zod maybe for the second movie of 3rd. Superman got other villians that need a chance on the big screen.

This is good news if it's true. This is not a definitive answer. Zod has been done, and done well, and I don't think anyone is going to top the Donner Cut of that film. Why not try a fresh villain, like Brainiac or Darkseid?

What's the big deal with Doomsday? he's a crap character. 90's formula, big guy, hits things. I'm suprised he wasn't designed with a huge gun and dozens of pouches. Though it would be cool to see Superman actually punch someone.

Good. I'm still far from a Superman expert, but I'm sure that there are plenty of other more interesting villains they could go for in this movie. None of them excite me that much though unfortunately. Doomsday would be epic. :)

Smallville has only gotten Luthor right,but screwed
up Clark .The first 7seasons should've been called LUTHORVILLE because the Luthors carried the show!!!

Why is this article still up? Its a false title for one. Its not DEBUNKED. Synder said for now its a rumor. Thats because he legally can't come out and say who the villian is yet. And it may change. But its not debunked. Zod is still a huge possibility for villian.

THE BIGGEST OF ALL THE SUPERMAN MOVIES WAS SUPERMAN II, SUPERMAN AGAINST 3 OF HIS OWN KIND, AND NOT ONLY THAT , GIVING UP HIS POWER FOR LOVE AND SEEING THE REPERCUSSIONS OF IT...NOW DO IT TODAY, BUT BY NOT COPYING, BUT HITTING A HOME RUN LIKE SUPERMAN II DID.

They did Origin, They did Zod, They did Richard Pryor, They did...Nuclear Man, They did Return. We don't want anyone messing with the mythology. Keep the story moving one direction (or at least try). To hell with the DC execs, pull all of the DC Universe together and do the Death of Superman and the sequel can be Reign of the Supermen. If the movie makes enough money (which it will if those are the titles alone) to continue the series, then you can make movies from there.

Routh was a great Superman and a great Clark Kent (the costume sucked ass) bring him back. Kevin Spacey is a great actor, but a lame Lex Luthor, get Michael Rosenbaum. If he's too young to go against an adult Superman, then recast!

I've been a Superman fan since before I could read comics. I think I can call myself a loyal fan and I think I know what fans would want. I can't be more blunt then that

BRAINIAC AS THE MAIN VILLAIN!
Lex Luthor, Bruno Mannheim and The Intergang and John Corben (As human) as the side villains.

Corben should be a Mercenary who works for Luthor like Bruno Mannheim and Intergang. Luthor gives them hich tech weapons which they can kill Superman! Corben gets in the horrible accident (With his robot suit) when he is fighting against Superman and in the end of the movie Luthor makes him the cyborg Metallo.

Brainiac should be the main villain in the Superman Reboot not General Zod. I will like to see the story how Brainiac took advantage of Planet Krypton's People living in the city of Kandor and uses his laser beings to minimize Kandor. It was the time, before Superman was born on Krypton.

Superman deserves a film of epic proportions. Doomsday won't be the villain but Darkseid is what the Man of Steel needs. A REAL opponent.

This makes me cautiously happy (cautious because they COULD still use Zod) but this definitely signifies their desire to go in a brand, new direction with Superman. No more Donner-retreading THANK GOD.

I'm still hoping for Brainiac...we will see if Snyder will listen to the fans and not give in to peer pressure.

@Gusto- hahaha Yeah I agree. The crystals have gotten a bit out of hand over the years. I'd like to see a Supes film with NO crystals as the plot-device for once.
