Joe Manganiello Back To Being Frontrunner For Superman Role In Reboot?

According to a recent Tweet from a very reliable source, the rumor mill in Hollywood is once again buzzing with the news that the actor is frontrunner to play the Man of Steel...

While we've already heard plenty of rumours surrounding the Spider-Man and True Blood star being in the running to play the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot, an even more reliable source has now reignited the speculation once again.

Via his Twitter account, Geoff Boucher of The Los Angeles Time Hero Complex (@LATherocomplex) left the following message.

As I said, we've already heard the same sort of thing about this guy a fair few times in the past. However, this latest one comes from the same guy who recently promised that big Batman news was coming, and revealed that Tom Hardy would be playing Bane and Anne Hathaway had been cast as Catwoman a little over 24 hours later. I think it's fair to say that this at least indicates the former Flash Thompson is being considered for the title role in the reboot.

He's not a good actor, and he's nothing more than another muscelehead jersey shore reject. He is not even close to Clark Kent.

He may have the muscles to fill out the tights, but not the acting chops.

im ok as long as he can command the screen and looks good in tights...remember this is partly CHRIS NOLAN.who is quite godly at casting.

Way too ethnic looking. The nose is just too bent. At any moment I'd be expecting Supes to say fuggeddabadit!

Cast his as Hawkman all day long but never as Superman! He does not look anything like Superman or Clark Kent. He is way too Italian looking to look like Supes from the comics!

Rick Malambri or Henry Cavil! I'd love to see Routh return but that's not happening.

zack snyder likes to cast people that look exactly like the character and are only OK actors, just look at watchmen, and it still turned out good NOLAN AND SNYDER= masterpiece comic book movie

If they map his body and use it in a CGI costume, you will get the best presentation of Superman on film ever.

I still say Jared Padalecki for Superman/Clark Kent, but that's just me. I think that Jared has a deeper, more commanding voice, he's got more of a fanbase I think, and he's got that whole farmboy look that Superman needs. But Manganiello is probably my third choice. I say third because I still have a deep seeded hope that WB will get smart and cast Tom Welling as Superman for the movie, but we all know that probably won't happen

He's got too much of a villainous look. Superman is a "Valiant", as opposed to Batman' "Vigilante" look, the breed of hero that allows for Manganiello's sort of sharpness of features. Routh had a great look, but wasn't a particularly deep actor.

WATCHMEN WAS A PILE OF INANE SHIT. YOU CANNOT USE IT AS EVIDENCE OF SNYDER'S GREATNESS BECAUSE IT POINTEDLY PROVES THAT HE ONLY CARES ABOUT SPECTACLE, NOT STORY.

Still i prefer Ryan McPartlin and Henry Cavill.

A good choice. Not a Reeve wanna be like Routh and thank God not Welling. More like a Superman from the comics!
ThaMessenger07

I think he can pull it off. He reminds me of Evans and Hemsworth. They were unique yet inspired choices. He is recognizable but he is not defined. Best thing is he has displayed during interviews and other live appearances a greater confidence, strong presence, and a humble attitude. All qualities of Superman. He Gives the Hero feel what I feel people see is the lack of duality. He truly looks like he can never be helpless or vulnerable. Which is a part of Superman, it's Clark. I would love to see what he can do with the character.

I wasnt a big fan when this rumor initially came out, but i definetly dont want a pretty boy again. Want the movie to be darker n gritty this time around. Do it right for a change... Manganiello wouldnt be bad at all... as long as they just let him kick some a$$

I can't see him as anyone but Hawkman, I cast him in the role on my very first fan cast and don't see him as any other DC character.
He looks too brooding and bad-ass, Superman isnt a bad-ass, he's a goody two shoes
StrangerX
StrangerX - 1/24/2011, 10:11 AM
The villain in this movie will be the interesting part. Superman will always be superman his character never really changes. So I'm expecting the next actor to just portray him the same way.
