Man Of Steel The Good, The Bad And The Ugly And Justice Leagues Future by Aresww3

I share my thoughts on Man Of Steel: I look at the film that should have been the greatest CBM to date, but fell short and why, and also looks at what can be salvaged from the wreckage. By the way I rate this film a 75%, but to me that is not good enough for a Superman movie. Just look at Comics like Birth Right, Red Son or Earth One to see why. Also discussed is my views on why the plans for the JL movie sounds terrible.

Mos was awesome to me. Was missing one or two elements yo elevate it to greatness. But its a good start for an origin movie of a character badly in need of a facelift.

Reviews like this is what shows disparity between general public and professional/aspiring movie people. General public read a review to see if we will enjoy movie artistic or professional person is reviewing to see how artistic it gets and the things you mention are things that joe public will never notice or care about. What we need are regular people not would be filmmakers doing reviews and giving us laymans view. This is why audiences give ut A- but professiobal critics are giving the snore fest called superman returns higher. No doubt they are scoring it on things we (joe public) dont care about

@tonytony - believe it or not I see myself reviewing this movie a mr joe public. I like the movie, but I think it has flaws. However the flaws critics have mentioned like it being no fun, having no humor, exploiting 9/11 imagery, are just bullshit. So I wanted to respond as someone who is lover of film, but also a writer, as to why people left Man Of Steel think "this was awesome but?" I personally think half the reviews and plot holes that have been mentioned by the critics are garbage. also, if this movie was a 56%, the tdkr is 30%, Thor is - 56%, Avengers is around 50%, and Inception is so below standard it should be made into a advert for Gucci suits. MOS is excellent, but it leaves you with a bitter taste because it was just so poorly structured and did some really stupid things, like revealing Clark to Lois. Thats just plain bad.

@aresww revealing clark to lois is not something that most people care about. I think for me personally if they had thrown in a scene literally one scene with superman realising collateral damage and loss of life from battle at end before showing him as reporter clark along with a slightly more detailed explaination of suit i would have been happier. For me the rest of movie was epic. The opening section on krypton could eadily be from star wars and faora was badass and showed wonder woman can be done and the fight with zod and battle of smallville are brilliant. I guess my rating would be at about 86% a bit higher than yours but not wildly different. My advice is appreciate that superman is back and im sure in sequel we will get something of tdk proportions def mos is the best superman movie and is better origin movie than batman begins and in my opinion is best origin movie ever.

@TonyTony - Thanks alot for the compliment. "I think for me personally if they had thrown in a scene literally one scene with superman realising collateral damage and loss of life from battle at" Agreed. But thats exactly how I feel about, if they had have shown a bit of character development before him saving the people on the ship, or, the bus. My major issue with the film if I were to dilute it down to one statement is they assumed the audience already knew and cared about who superman was. Now I know that in reality we do. But for me that assumption wasn´t made in Batman Begins. Nothing was assumed, and thats why for me it edges for the better origin story in my book. Perhaps not a better film as you said, but a better origin. The bits where I began to like Clark and care about him came to late, and made the film seem muddled. That ship scene and the bus scene should have come after, all the stuff in the bar and perhaps on his way to the spaceship and discovering who he is. And to be honest when he came from Krypton, I think they should have delved a bit into the Kents reaction and him being a happy boy brought up well by the Kents, then suddenly all this crap starts happening to him. But they just wanted to get to action set pieces too fast. I seriously think if this were just a new character, that nobody knew about people would have been bored by the time the film got really good.
