PACIFIC RIM UPRISING Director Refutes MAN OF STEEL Sequel Interest;Would Prefer If Zack Snyder Returned

Following speculation that he was interested in helming the Man of Steel sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising director Steven DeKnight has taken to Twitter to set the record straight and defend Zack Snyder...

Last week, Pacific Rim Uprising director Steven DeKnight was asked if would ever consider or be interested in directing a Man of Steel sequel. DeKnight, who has directed his fair share of blockbusters, simply responded "Up, up and away!" which prompted a round of headlines claiming DeKnight wants to direct Man of Steel 2.

Taking to Twitter, DeKnight attempted to set the record straight, and though it still seems he would be interested in directing Man of Steel 2, it seems his first preference would be for original Man of Steel director Zack Snyder return for a sequel.

Of course, with the DCEU in flux, who knows if we're ever even going to get a Man of Steel sequel, and if we do, it's highly unlikely Snyder will return as he's taken on more of an Executive Producer / creative consultant role with DC Films following his departure from Justice League.

He needs to get his ass back on Daredevil ASAP.

Sure, Snyder will return to the DCEU....when hell freezes over.

@Flynn - It must have, because he is producer on, pretty much, every DC Film going forward, particularly Justice League and the Wonder Woman sequel.

Yes to MOS2, no to Zack Snyder directing

I love what DeKnight did with Daredevil. And excited for his Pacific Rim sequel. But this comment right here about Hack Snyder indicates he is not the right director for a Superman film.

I'd be down for that. Get a good story going and leave the man alone to work. It could be another watchmen or man of steel.

@gorgoneion - I'm not a fanboy, he's definitely done some things wrong, but I do like where his head was at.

@Antithesis - Me too! I love Zack Snyder's work on the DC cinematic universe. :)

I'm not surprised that Steven DeKnight is also a fan of Zack's work. My guess is that Snyder is like a "director's director". I'm sure that DeKnight can see how much of Zack's heart and soul was poured into movies like Man of Steel. Other directors will probably have so much respect for the level of careful detail that goes into every single scene.

Come back Zack! :)

@Antithesis - so... another "fine" film that isn't really "good" unless you buy the three hour extended cut, or a mediocre film?
Antithesis
Antithesis - 1/29/2018, 2:57 PM
@ALF9001 - or he's allowed to make the movie that needs to be made.

ALF9001 - 1/29/2018, 4:58 PM
@Antithesis - I was talking about watchmen and man of steel.

Sucker punch was Snyder being allowed to do whatever he wanted to. It was total garbage, we don't want that again.
Antithesis
Antithesis - 1/29/2018, 5:10 PM
@ALF9001 - sucker punch was no where near garbage. Not even close.
ALF9001
ALF9001 - 1/29/2018, 5:40 PM
@Antithesis - I love it how you pretend to be all intelectual and shit talking down to other users in this site, but in the end you don't seem to understand even the basics of filmmaking. I mean, I could be wrong, but I feel pretty confident in that listenning to you talk about sucker punch and MOS as if they were great films.
Antithesis
Antithesis - 1/29/2018, 6:14 PM
@ALF9001 - show me where i said sucker punch or mos was great. I've looked up and down this comment section and can't find it anywhere. I guess my intellectual superiority is eclipsing that part of the comments section rendering even the most basic of visual acuity non existent. My bad dude.
ALF9001
ALF9001 - 1/29/2018, 6:52 PM
@Antithesis - haha don't you? I mean, you said that sucker punch was not even close to garbage (meaning that at the very least you think that it's a good film) and you were talking about mos as if it was something to aspire to "we could get another mos"; and that's enough to make my point stand.

Come on dude, you use big boy words, you should be smart enough to know that in my comment I never said that you explicitly wrote "mos and sucker punch are great films", I just said that you were talking about them as if they were (as I explained above). You should've double checked that before basing your whole argument on semantics.
Antithesis
Antithesis - 1/29/2018, 7:00 PM
@ALF9001 - you implying something that I clearly didn't say isn't semantics, that's you doing a little bit of shit talking and back peddling. I get it, you wanna argue and prove your just the coolest swinging dick on the internet. Good luck dude, all the best.
ALF9001
ALF9001 - 1/29/2018, 7:27 PM
@Antithesis - It IS semanitcs, because you were questionning my use of the word "great" just because you didn't explicitly write it. However it was only the word I chose to reflect how you were clearly talking about those films in a fairly positive way. It may be me shit talking a bit, but it's not backpeddling, it's just playing the game you set up.

G'day sir.
Antithesis
Antithesis - 1/29/2018, 7:38 PM
@ALF9001 - nope, you talked shit and got caught up in it. End of. Peace!!
ALF9001
ALF9001 - 1/29/2018, 7:52 PM
@Antithesis - I see, the ancient "nope" tactic, excellent choice.

Yeah, "peace" off, dude.

@ALF9001 - truth isn't a tactic.

I think we all would like a Snyder return. You want the master artist painting the masterpieces.

You don’t take the brush out of Rembrandt’s hand because people didn’t like his work.
You don’t take the pen out of Melvilles hand because no one likes Moby Dick

We all love his work!

HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/29/2018, 11:10 AM
@IronGenesis - I can't tell if you're joking or not.

Its also important to note that you need a Rembrandt or Melville in the first place. That doesn't even come close to applying to Hack Snyder.
