RUMOR: Henry Cavill Reportedly "Unwilling To Come Back" As SUPERMAN

RUMOR: Henry Cavill Reportedly "Unwilling To Come Back" As SUPERMAN RUMOR: Henry Cavill Reportedly "Unwilling To Come Back" As SUPERMAN

Despite the buzz, Henry Cavill didn't end up appearing during Warner Bros.' muted SDCC presentation and now, it seems as though we have a little more information on what his Superman status actually is.

While many were hoping the rumors of Henry Cavill making a surprise appearance at the end of Warner Bros.' SDCC presentation yesterday would be true, he ended up not attending the event and left fans more confused than ever regarding his future status as the DC Universe's live-action Superman.

Both Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam) and Zachary Levi (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) were asked about how their characters would fare against the Man of Steel, but neither got into much detail and avoided mentioning Cavill by name, essentially giving company-friendly answers to appease the lively crowd.

With no update yesterday, reliable scooper ViewerAnon took to Twitter to share what he's heard about the whole situation between Warner Bros. and Cavill's camp, and according to his sources, Cavill may actually be "unwilling" to return to his Superman role.

What that means is hard to say, but it seems as though Warner Bros. is making some sort of effort to get Cavill back onboard as they've "asked him back on multiple occasions," but it sounds like he may not be entirely pleased with how his character has been treated thus far by the studio or he may actually just be done with the part, having moved on to The Witcher

VA says he's heard different reasons from different sources, with some claiming he wants more creative control over Kal-El's future and others saying he's not happy with the contract offer Warner Bros. made him for future appearances. Either way, it doesn't sound like we'll have a resolution on the matter any time soon.

Maybe he doesn't want to do shitty ass cameos for random ass movies, including f*cking Peacemaker.

@Doomsday8888 - The cameo in the [frick]ing Peacemaker would be probably the highlight of his shitty career ... besides MI.

@Doomsday8888 - He was very vocal about not being happy about the direction they were taking the character after MoS...he even said he liked the Whedon version better...there is a reason why he didnt come back for the Snyder Cut, when most of the other actors did.

@Doomsday8888 - I can only imagine being strung along for the better part of a decade and becoming basically an extra in the franchise isn't causing him to lose much sleep over not returning.

@Doomsday8888 - Marvel and DC have always had a bit of a pissing contest where one makes a character and the other copies it, and what better way to bring that tradition to the big screen than having Cavill show up as Hyperion?

@TheHumanSpider2 - which just proves to show Zack Snyder was not the man to helm any Superman films. While Josstice league sucked at least the 5 minutes of Superman we got in that was far better than anything Snyder could concoct.

@TheHumanSpider2 - What are you talking about? Cavill was there on live stream for the announcement of the SnyderCut.
He is most likely not happy with Superman just being used as cameo in other movies/series. And remember that McQuarrie and Cavill pitched a MoS sequel to WB but they said no because they wanted him to fix their broken ideas.
Stop spreading misinformation please.

@KyoShiRo330 - Most of the cast shot new scenes for the Snyder Cut, all the cast recorded new lines for the Snyder Cut...Cavill was not involved in anything regarding the Snyder Cut, reason why Snyder re-used scenes from MoS and BvS.

@Arthorious - Superman was the last character Snyder should've directed.
His Batman is a lot better, heck, even his Wonder Woman has some good moments, but Superman?
People often say "Snyder doesnt understand Superman", but he actually does, he just hates everything he stands for...and that's ok, but dont make him the director of its adaptations!

@TheHumanSpider2 - This 100%. I'm not going to front and say that I don't like any of Snyder's movies. I do. He's not the guy you get for Superman. He's the antithesis. Just like how I do enjoy Michael Bay movies. He was not the right guy for Transformers. Someone like Ryan Knight was. I think Snyder would have done an amazing The Question.

@ColdSlither - Snyder would've killed it with The Question, you can see in Watchmen he considered Rorcharch (a direct parody/critique of The Question) the hero of the story.

@AmazingFILMporg - and Cavill himself is probably gonna get shit for not appearing now. Something get's hyped up, people get expectations, things doesn't turn out true, people's expections get shattered, and then they take it out on who- or whatever the rumour was about. That's just the wheel of hype right now I guess.
