Early this year, news broke that DC Animation was working on an adaptation of Mark Millar's acclaimed story, Superman: Red Son, and the first official image of what will be a very different take on the Man of Steel is now online.
For those unfamiliar with the source material, Red Son is an alternate reality, or "Elseworlds" tale which asks "what if" baby Kal-El's ship had crashed in the Soviet Union instead of the United States?
Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery) will provide the voice of Superman, and he'll be joined by American Housewife's Diedrich Bader as Lex Luthor, and Angel alum Amy Acker as Lois Lane.
The animated adventure will also feature Star Wars Rebels' Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Doom Patrol's Phil Morris as James Olsen, Paul Williams (Goliath) as Brainiac, Sasha Roiz (Grimm) as Hal Jordan, and Phil LaMarr (Supergirl) as John Stewart. Frequent Batman voice actor Roger Craig Smith (Batman Ninja, Batman: Arkham Origins) will return as The Dark Knight.
Superman: Red Son is set to hit DVD/Blu-ray and digital download during the first quarter of 2020.
