James Gunn started putting together his Superman: Legacy cast before the Hollywood strikes and, now they're finally over, he's continued to do so. The movie is going to feature a large ensemble and singer/songwriter Madison Beer has revealed that she was very nearly part of the upcoming DCU reboot.
In the video below, she's asked about any auditions which didn't pan out and says, "That might have been for the new Superman movie. Sorry if that's not announced. I didn't get the part. Unfortunately not."
"They don't give too many specifics, especially for a film that huge," Beer continues. "They keep the character vague and make something up new. I don't who the actual character I was auditioning for was."
We do! According to a couple of online scoopers, she was likely trying out for the role of Eve Teschmacher. She was created by Richard Donner and Mario Puzo for Superman: The Movie and portrayed by Valerie Perrine. The character has also appeared in Smallville and the Arrowverse and is typically depicted as Lex Luthor's secretary both on the page and screen.
We're hearing Dove Cameron may have landed the role instead of Beer and, as you'll likely recall, she had a memorable stint in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (she's also got a great deal more acting experience than Beer). This casting has yet to be officially announced and is best taken as a rumour for now, but it confirms reports Lex will be a big part of the story Gunn is telling in Superman: Legacy.
However, he may not be the movie's true big bad. You can read more about them by clicking here.
Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Skyler Gisondo is rumoured to be playing Jimmy Olsen and we recently learned Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell may be in the running for Jor-El.
