This past Friday, we got word that members of the supergroup known as The Authority will make their big-screen debut in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy, and we may now know which characters will appear.

Though there was a lot of speculation that the likes of Jenny Sparks, Midnighter and Apollo would be introduced to lay the groundwork for the eventual Authority movie, it seems Gunn has decided to go in a slightly different direction when it comes to which members of the team he wants audiences to meet first.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), casting is currently underway for Jack Hawksmoor, aka The God of Cities; The Doctor (we don't know if it'll be Jeroen Thornedike or Habib ben Hassan), and the team's second Engineer, Angela Spica.

A Black actor is reportedly being sought for Hawksmoor, but we don't have any info on the others. We're also hearing that Eve Teschmacher will be Lex Luthor's "influencer" assistant.

We have no idea how The Authority will factor into the story, but given the morally grey nature of the group, there's a very good chance they'll start out as antagonists to the Man of Steel.

It's looking like our new Superman will be either Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet or Tom Brittney, while Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor are said to be in the running for Lois.

Gunn reportedly turned in the first draft of his script before the writers' strike, but that doesn't mean the production won't be impacted going forward.

“Superman: Legacy is the true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe. Not only is Superman an iconic part of DC lore, he is also a favorite character for comic book readers, viewers of earlier movies, and fans around the world," said Gunn during the DCU slate announcement. "I can’t wait to introduce our version of Superman who audiences will be able to follow and get to know across films, movies, animation and gaming.”

Superman: Legacy is set to hit theaters in 2025.
