Video: Nicolas Cage's Superman Costume Test

Video: Nicolas Cage's Superman Costume Test

Every now and then the universe works exactly the way it's supposed to, which is evident from watching this costume test from Tim Burton's proposed version of Superman. Looks like fans dodged a Kryptonite bullet.

that last one on the video was an action figure with Cage face. sometimes the original vision with great possibilities is distorted by naysayers and ppl in power with no vision. Cage would have been Supes but no one would know the reason he seemed a bit odd was that he was in fact Bizarro. Nice climax leading to Superman Returns for real with much mystery and a superpowered battle.

I like him. He changed his surname to Cage (inspired by Luke Cage!) and he named his son Kal-El!

Why does he have long hair?? lolll... John Travolta as Batman and Nic Cage as Superman.. Now that's a real FACE/OFF.. lollllll

I don't think it would have been as bad if he had short hair. They wanted a darker Superman and Burton could have supplied that. In retrospect I liked Superman Returns (even though it was emo Superman) But it has Donner's look. Maybe Routh in In Burton's costume would have been a better idea. Maybe put Cage in another role instead of Superman, maybe Luthor? I really thought Spacey in the role would have saved the movie, but I think that's what killed it. It was like a merging of Gene Hackman and the cartoon Luthor. That should have just just picked 1 version of Luthor!

Imran - 9/22/2009, 6:26 AM
Cage could be Brainiac, Luthor or Zod :-P

He should sign up for Smallville haha

I think the idea was to have a Superman that was not so much a "god-like" being but more of a "Joe Average" type.
And then throw in Burton's dark imagry.
If we had a really good Superman film series done first, then playing with original ideas such as a "dark" version might be ok.
But do it right first. With a quality villian.

Thank god this abomination never got made! It would have probably been better than Singer's toucht feely wimp of a Superman though! :)

CAGE was all wrong, (though DARTHSTERN will probably disagree lol).

; D

But the actual movie looks really good, less of a love story and more of a Superhero Doomsday type story!!

BRAINIAC actually don't look a kn*b there like he does normally in most SUPERMAN stuff lol.

BRING IN DOOMSDAY!!! = EPIC!

supermarioworldE - 9/22/2009, 8:37 AM
That movie was always destined to fail. Tim Burton + Superman = BAD MOVIE. Burton probably would of had lois find out Superman's identity by having jor-el escort her into the fortress of solitude. Burton cannot make good action movies (Batman, Batman Returns, Planet of the Apes)
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 9/22/2009, 8:45 AM
Burton was all wrong for Supes. Josh, I don't know if you have ever read a Superman comic, but he can be quite the touchy feely wimp in a man of steels body! Kinda the point. I would still rather that than the goth fantasy Burton would have made it.

Thanks Superman7 I hadnt seen that video before. It just goes to show you that the idiots in hollywood have no idea what theyre doing. Producers and directors have an disproportionate amount of control over a movie, with writers put on the sideline.

I'm no expert but that looks photoshoped to me. It looks, as someone else said, like an action figure, but then again maybe it's real and the costume was meant to look really plastic like. Who Knows.

Damn, what a slow day... Articles about nothing left and right. The JLA film isn't getting made, Michael Cain has no credibility and this is an action figure!!! I mean, we don't really "need" to have news "everyday" added on the main page. If there isn't any, why put up stuff that could be made by anyone's retarded step child? You guys know i don't normally bitch about this so it really shows how bad it is today.
SciFiNut

Guys - the picture is real. So is the amount of suck that Tim Burton would've injected into it. Thank GOD this didnt happen.
