It seems the boys' slightly differing opinions represent the general critical consensus for this movie so far. Very few (David Poland being one notable exception) seem to have flat out hated Man Of Steel, but many felt a bit let down by it and that's reflected in its current RT and Metacritic scores. Regardless, you should definitely go see it for yourselves when it opens this Friday and form your own opinion, because I'm pretty sure any Superman comic book fan will find plenty to enjoy.

I have a feeling that MOS might end up like watchmen, where the critics are rather divided on it but most of the fans love it.

Almost if not all(I don't watch every of them) every popular reviewer on YouTube is not giving MOS their highest rating which they always gave for CBM, it worries me.

Ok I loved what Nolan did to Batman with bringing him back into the public. Looking at the film, I don't blame Zack Snyder. A director is suppose adapt what is given to him and the film looks great. I think we need Goyer out. Get some real [frick]ing writers and not Goyer. I will probably like Man of Steel but I'm not a fan of Goyer. If the script was shit why didnt Chris rewrite it or Jon write it? Goyer shouldn't be involved in a sequel.

It's not Snyder's fault if he didnt write it but I blame Goyer.

again F the RottenTomatoes..they are rotten..go watch MoS...you will enjoy it...i bet you will at least watch it twice...no word i can express how awesome and EPIC this movie...F the critics...treat yourself and watch Mos you will not regret it...

@Levi: Lmao!!!!!! You've been praising Snyder AND Goyer for months and now that this movie is getting mixed to positive reviews you're going to say boot Goyer? Why not boot Snyder too? I've been telling you and everyone else for months not to get your hopes up because both Snyder and Goyer (don't count The Dark Knight trilogy, he only co-wrote it) don't have good filmographies and that this wasn't going to live up to expectations.

xNightwingx , people care because they are review aggregators ..Knowles review is counted on there among most others from around the net! So you get a pretty good idea of the overall critical consensus by their score system. Obviously if you don't care what the critics thing then yes, it's pointless to even bring it up, but many people (myself included) like to get a feel for the reactions a movie provokes before I see it.

I just saw the movie. I don't get all the negative reviews. It was flat out awesome. Yeah I get the nitpicks....but seriously.. these critics who are all saying the movie takes itself too seriously...are taking their jobs too seriously. Man I'm watching it 4 more times. And I was stuck in the front row. In 3D... god my neck hurts. Word of advice...the 3D is ok...but in the front row you'll be sorry. There is ALOT going on screen. Actually... come to think of it, while there is plenty of action, I was expecting more based on the harsh reviews. Cavill nailed the character, there was more levity than I was led to believe, and Zod is just menacing.

for those who are worried about this movie sucking don't be rotten tomatoes are based on critics and not the true people who count the fans this movie will be awesome and dont let any review stop you from seeing it

@Crossbones - Most of he hopes of this being good in Goyers and Snyders hands was because of Nolan. But I guess we found out quickly that he is a great director. But a lousy producer.


But MoS is getting strong reviews on the internet. Youtube mostly, but I'm waiting for Imdb to see if my theory proves me correct.

also, to answer..did you see the twister scene..when you know you can save your father...but he won't..c'mon man..i'm so mad..i'm spoiling the movie...

@Minotauro: Personally, all this goes back on the writer and director. Nolan produced the film cause he liked Goyer's take on the character and that's the only reason he produced it. Quite honestly, Warner Bros put his name in the marketing to grab audiences attention. Also, Man of Steel is actually getting mixed reviews. Snyder and Goyer (mostly Snyder) is why I'll wait for a bootlegged version to hit the internet or wait on DVD. I've been hoping to be proven wrong but, so far it sounds like I've been kind of right.

Everything about this movie sounds like the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what people said Superman Returns was.

I think I'm gonna love this movie, because honestly I can think of worse problems than too much action/

Well the problem is a lot of the critics or some if you want to be fair are comparing this movie to the original Supes movies. Also complaints of way too much action etc...

Now if people are complaining abut character development etc... then that I cannot gripe about it.

I hope everyone who loves RDJ's Iron Man and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is looking at what's going on with Man of Steel. One of the reason people dislike it is because people wanted a Chris Reeve Superman movie. As great as Chris is, he's become a curse. He's become larger than the character and their is no comic character bigger than Superman.

The day RDJ & Hugh are replaced, critics will likely say the same.

[frick] rotten tomatoes and the negative critics their idiots and stuck in the past the REAL critics are us and I guarandamntee we will all love this movie I know I will and not give a shit what critics say and what rotten tomatoes says!
