Alan Ritchson Raphael TMNT reboot

Alan Ritchson spoke with The Back Lot for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire promotions and touched on his role as Raphael in next year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Said Ritchson, "[Raphael's] known as the angry hothead of the group. He is quick tempered and is quick to act. He is less thoughtful of people’s feelings and emotions and consequences. That’s something I can relate to as a person...So I can relate to him in that sense, but I think just zoning in on who that guy is and then understanding the back story… how [the Turtles] were formed in the context of our story and where they came from, and the feelings of abandonment or betrayal. All those very real human feelings are something that are contained within that world, and I think we did a good job of creating a setting and a foundation for that."

Touching on his time as Aquaman on Smallville, Ritchson added, "I think as far as Ninja Turtles, I played a comic book hero [Aquaman] before, so I had some experience with trying to bring a character like that to life. It’s challenging because a comic book can span decades and there is an infinite number of authors to go to. The source material changes and these characters’ identities change. We still see it every day, like Superman is gay now in comic book nine hundred and eighty one, it’s like ‘okay well, that’s different then than the guy that started out in number one.’"

Ritchson's career is definitely trending upward with rules in Catching Fire and next year's TMNT reboot. It will be interesting to watch and see whether his role as Raphael takes him to the next stratosphere or whether he'll have to continue his search for a breakout role. The film is scheduled to be released on August 8, 2014.

I really hope Casey Jones ends up in this movie somehow, I don't care if they give him just a cameo at the end or something...

Can't really judge him off his performance of Hunger games. I don't think he even talked once. He's definitely built.

Looking forward to this.

The fact Casey jones won't be in this movie is just another reason I continue to doubt this movie. Longtime die hard turtles fan and although its too early to say I haven't liked what I've heard at all as far as news for this movie is going

What part of April O'neil requires a high caliber actress to portray her?

Also, first of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle series. Casey Jones not being included hardly counts as a negative. The only necessity is the Turtles. Although we have yet to see their images.

WHINE, BITCH AND MOAN!!!! Is all I hear about this movie. Put your tampons back in and suck it up.
Most did the same with the first transformers movie and most loved it. (Granted the sequals were questionable but...) if they made the transformers with the original designs which everyone complained about then it would of looked cheesy and goofy. This movie wont please everyone but you will all go watch it despite what u say.
Im holding my opinion on this movie till we get the official plot and a official look at the characters.

With what he's saying about Raph having feelings of abandonment due to their origin in the film, I can't help but think about the IDW origin, in which Raph goes missing for a year, as the other three turtles and Splinter grow to full size.
rage@ Are you actually saying that we shouldn't worry about this movie because of how well TransFormers turned out? Seriously?

I don't get to read comics as much anymore but "Superman is gay now" did I miss something where they changed Kal-el? I even did a quick search to make sure and found nothing, Clark is still a pie eater and hasn't become a dog gobbler.

If not then he knows nothing about comics and it makes me sad they chose actors like him for movies about comics or genres outside of hollywood. I never had great expectations for this movie but I will reserve opinion till it comes out.

I wish Mike "explosions" Bay would just go back to actions movies and leave anything even remote to the relm of nerdom alone, he is not one of us and doesn't care about pissing us off. I have a friend that still hates he changed Bumble Bee and it replaced his favorite Transformer.

He stinks and I don't like him.

I think it's kind of funny that they're talking about how deep the character will be, along with all these deep themes and such...when, at the end of the day, it's a Michael Bay project with Megan Fox. How deep could it really be haha. That's just my initial reaction to this.
