I still think they look awful, but I'll be seeing it anyway. What can I say I'm a fan of mutated Turtles.

The release date on this is screwy. It's a tot film. So it should've been released when kindergarten-5th graders were out of school.

It should've been an early June release.

@EzioKenway1225 Good with some fans Destroyed by critics seriously the Majority of film critics when reviewing this movie compare it to the classic 1990s film but who cares they shat on that movie too And many enjoy that one so they can get bent but Only time will tell first weekend may be a bit rough though

Jesus the turtles are 6 1/2 feet tall, super strong and bulletproof....this movie looks fun but the turtles are no longer ninjas.

I bet they are #1 for one weekend and then GOTG leapfrogs over them

I won't be surprised if that happens

I don't want to be petty and have one movie tank to prop up another - and ill be the first to say marvel can be overrated - but I'd love to see marvel studios flick trounce a bay movie

It looks amazing for a TMNT movie. Stop putting this thing on such a high pedestal with high expectations. It's a freaking Nickelodian movie.

The turtles were made to be a satire of the comic genre. It's not made to be taken seriously. if we can all be open minded about it like we were for GotG, there is no reason you shouldn't have fun watching this one too
MisterNiceGuy
MisterNiceGuy - 8/6/2014, 10:49 AM
Of course I could be wrong and it could really be shit. But I gotta see it first to know. I don't get why people would say that just by looking at the trailers, cuz the trailers make it look very entertaining. And RT had always been partial to Marvel. I dont know why people still take it seriously

They look horrifying next to the 80s films because the Turtles from the 80s are goofy looking as all [frick].

Hey guys... The new Step Up flick is at 57% on RT. Let's show our support this Friday! Because you know the reviewers on RT who should get a real job instead of critiquing are the authority on all things Hollywood. Or even worse if TMNT beats GotG at the box office maybe just maybe Marvel will stop making movies after 2036 or whenever they've planned to make movies till. That sure will suck and we can't let that happen!!
Get real trolls.

Compare Eastman and Laird's
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

 photo TMNTcompare1990_zpsb02173e2.jpg

with Paramount Pictures' Ninja Turtles

 photo TMNTcompare2014_zpsa79eaa8b.jpg

You are definitely right - the new versions are not goofy. There not anything like Eastman and Laird's decades spanning successful parody comic franchise. Those 80's/90's TMNTs were mutated turtles with their anatomy maintaining turtle like proportions.
The 2014 Ninja Turtles movie abandons that template entirely (not that there's anything wrong with that). In THIS movie they appear to be the offspring between a human and a turtle (that's hot!) as their height and proportions are VERY human. They tower over the new April (Fox), where as they used to be shorter than her. They USED to have turtle like chest/stomach plates. NOW they are super cut and ready for a cameo role in Pumping Iron.

But, as I have learned on this site ALL versions of comic characters are welcome. No adherence to the source is welcome. So enjoy your Ninja Turtles, I know it'll be POW-A-DUNG-A, dude (that's another of the updates they've made – cowabunga was seen as too goofy).

@ KrazyForKomix none of those are eastman and laird's turtles lol those are the more kid friendly versions the toy and tv show artists came up with...which the 90's films adapted.

I think everyone on here needs the stfu about the turtles and watch the movie "Turtles forever" it will make you all stop bitching about the turtles.

@ IIIAdamantiumIII

The very first image is Laird's drawing from Mirage Studios ©1985.
The rest are ALL based very closely to Eastman & Laird's comic designs.
Of course they are not exact.
But they are a far cry from the freakazoid monsters being premiered this weekend.

"I tell you movie fans suck these days. Since when do we as fans want a movie to be bad? I hate everything has become a popularity contest now. You actually have people not going to see this movie so that Guardians of the Galaxy can beat it like they are getting some of the money. I go to the theater and watch every movie that interest me and no I don't depend on someone else's review to determine if I see a movie or not. You have people wanting to find bad reviews and when you find a positive review you won't trust it. None of you will like the movie if you are already hating it before you see it."

Most truth I've ever seen written in a youtube comment.
