Feature Opinion

It's hard to say whether it was mostly nostalgic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans or kids used to seeing them on TV and in TV stores, but the movie (directed by Wrath of the Titans' Jonathan Liebesman) has been a huge hit with a $65 million opening. In fact, Paramount Pictures were so pleased by the result that they gave a sequel the green light! For the most part, the critics have not been kind; it has a 19% score on Rotten Tomatoes and the consensus describes it as, "Neither entertaining enough to recommend nor remarkably awful," and, "the dullest movie ever made about talking bipedal reptiles." Ouch! Critics aside, what did YOU guys think? We know that it hasn't reached a few countries just yet, but here's your chance to let us know...

The story was inconsistent and the acting was bad, but the Turtles, Splinter, and Shredder were fun to watch when they were all fighting.

I feel if Nickelodeon wasn't behind it, it would've been a little better. There were way too many times where I was cringing because of how kiddy and cheesey it was. I kept trying to remind myself its a movie about talking Turtles, but there were some parts where they made it really badass. Then there were some parts where it was way too cartoony, and that just didn't mesh well for me. Not good, not awful.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To anyone that's seen the film please clear something up for me. I have heard from two friends that Ralph turns out to be gay in this film.....what? That can't be accurate, right? Have they misconstrued something, or have they actually just done whatever they could to be disrespectful to the source material?

Shredder was badass, but you'd think that a guy who's wearing a suit made outta knives would punch a little less, especially when his foes are literally crawling away from him in defeat.

-Cons

-Megan Fox as April (Her acting is so dull and unbelievable at times) lol
-Cgi (I guess because of the budget there wasn't enough cash to go full out, it looked like a video game at times.)
-Turtles got beaten too easily by Shredder at times. (For the sequel they need to improve their fighting skills and costumes as well)
-Already knew how the antagonists master plan would go to waste just from watching the trailers.

Pros

-The turtles had a LOT of character and you could easily tell what made each one of them different from one another
-You could actually believe why Master Spkinter is an actual "Master" in his craft when it came down to fighting.
-Background story of how the turtles developed and etc was a great addition.
-Mikey (LOL! He kept the theater cracking up)

Overall

Despite some of it's easily noticable flaws I think that it's an alright set up for more to come from out of their universe. With a better budget, cgi and hopefully acting from Fox next go around their could be some vast improvements for this franchise. I was pretty surprised to hear the crowd applauding the film after it wrapped up. (I know right? lol) one person "booed" when Michael Bay's name came up in the credits but everyone else was just chillen waiting for an after credits scene (sadly there wasn't one) Hopefully they'll get A$AP Rocky to do the next theme for the film!

I gave my 10 year old daughter an option, TMNT or Guardians for the 3rd time. She told me if she wanted to see real Ninja turtles she would watch the dvd's of the 80's toons that I have or watch it on Nickelodeon. We saw Guardians again. That is not to say that we won't see NT.

:/ ?!

I don't get why Marvel Fans should be mad. GTOG made 95 mil on its first week and fell by 56 percent its second week. That's a normal second week drop.

not even the fights with the shredder are good. and they are short as [frick] and interrupted by scenes with megan fox. raph at the end talking about how much of an ass he is and how much he loves the others had me laughing my [frick]ing ass off.

the movie is god awful. bet the sequel will start off with mikey jerking it to april

Yeah, I might have to listen to the track again. I was just thinking like "Wow, they have this film being set in New York and there's no New York rappers spitting on this track?" It would be a great addition.

It's alright. Nothing spectacular but it's a pretty good movie. Not better then the last movie I went to see, but it's okay.

You do realize the 2012 cartoon is still airing? There is always an alternative to everything after all.

@0megaDaGod

Riggggght! I wouldn't even be mad if they got old school New York rappers like Busta Rhymes, Nas (I doubt it though) or even Rakim. lol But yeah, I know they're going for the mainstream stuff these days so it's understandable but one can always imagine. But no doubt at all are those choices you mentioned anything less than great.

we got our money back. it was god awful. the turtles reminded me of the Hulk Dogs. im sorry but Raph being able to toss around cargo bins like footballs was horrid. leo and raph were like 6'5, and weighed a ton. hard to not be seen, when you're the size of a volkswagen beetle
