It's hard to say whether it was mostly nostalgic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans or kids used to seeing them on TV and in TV stores, but the movie (directed by Wrath of the Titans' Jonathan Liebesman) has been a huge hit with a $65 million opening. In fact, Paramount Pictures were so pleased by the result that they gave a sequel the green light! For the most part, the critics have not been kind; it has a 19% score on Rotten Tomatoes and the consensus describes it as, "Neither entertaining enough to recommend nor remarkably awful," and, "the dullest movie ever made about talking bipedal reptiles."
