It seems the art style isn't the only thing being tinkered with in Nickelodeon's new
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. The debate has raged for years as to whether Raphael or Leonardo was the better fighter, but it seems the sai-wielding turtle will actually be the leader of the brothers in the new show.
Raph might even have superpowers, as the opening reveals that he can seemingly focus his chi in a very Iron Fist-like manner.
The Mirage Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios cartoon will premiere in 2018. A precise release date is expected to be announced at SDCC.
Per the show's SDCC panel description, it has been reaffirmed that Raphael and not Leonardo is the leader this time around. The Turtles' panel will be held on Thursday, July 19, 1:45p.m. – 2:45p.m. (Room: 6A).
The official OPEN to the brand new series “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is finally here! It’s BIG, BOLD, and turtle-y action-packed. This one will have you hitting repeat all day long!
