THE CROW Test Footage Provides A First Look At AQUAMAN Star Jason Momoa As Eric Draven

Some test footage and stills from Relativity's now defunct reboot of The Crow have been shared online, giving us a first look at Aquaman star Jason Momoa painted-up as supernatural avenger Eric Draven.

Some official concept art for director F. Javier Gutierrez’s now defunct remake of The Crow found its way online earlier this year, and we now have a first look at some test shots from Corin Hardy's more recent attempt to bring James O’Barr’s beloved graphic novel to the screen.

The images (and brief footage) give us a first look at Aquaman star Jason Momoa donning the iconic face-paint of resurrected avenger Eric Draven. This project very nearly came to fruition, but stalled when both Hardy and Momoa were forced to step away due to scheduling conflicts, and the studio ultimately pulled the plug.

Another filmmaker may attempt to re-adapt The Crow at some point, but the news may not be met with a particularly enthusiastic response. While some were disappointed that this reboot never saw the light of day, many feel Alex Proyas’ 1994 take on the material starring the late Brandon Lee did a perfect job of adapting the story and should be left alone.

What do you guys think? Would Momoa have suited this role? Drop us a comment down below.

Looks pretty good, just think mamoa is too bulky for the role.

@Origame - When he was prepping for the role he had lost a considerable amount of his bulk but when it was cancelled he put it back on to prep for Aquaman if I remember correctly. If you look at him in these shots he's nowhere near as big as he normally is.

@MitcHendricks - That wasn't his job to make sure it was safe. He shouldn't have trusted the people around him it seems like though.

He really transformed for this role. I haven’t seen the original since I was like 4 and I fell asleep at the drive in so I don’t even remember it

@MyCoolYoung - never went back for it? It's considered a cult classic. At the very least check it for how much people don't want a reboot. Definitely on my list of favorites.

@Chuck420Taylor - I’ll put it on the list. I never rewatched it because I was 4 and I kind of forgot it existed not because I was judging it.

@MyCoolYoung - how do you remember something u watched once as a 4 year old?

MyCoolYoung - 11/26/2021, 2:05 AM
@DarkDetective - I don’t remember the movie I remember seeing it. It was a double feature we saw the little rascals then the crow I think I remember some supernatural type scene where the crow jumped into somebody body or something like that but I don’t remember that movie at all

@MyCoolYoung - that is a crazy double feature… a PG movie in The Little Rascals followed by a rated R movie in The Crow?! WTF
TheFinestSmack
TheFinestSmack - 11/26/2021, 10:13 AM
@Santanaonfire - they did that a lot with drive-ins. I saw the live action He-Man followed by Aliens immediately after.

@TheFinestSmack - That’s wild! My drive in didnt go quite that extreme. I can’t remember what the more kid level movie I saw first was, but a drama with Whoopie Goldberg called Soapdish played after. It was obviously one for the kids and one for the parents, but Soapdish was boring AF and not interesting to kids, rather than going for rated R scary lol

@Santanaonfire - when you think about it that is crazy lol probably knew all the kids would fall asleep

i just dont understand why it needs to be a reboot when there are so many stories to be adapted. first movie came and went. its over.

@grif - Totally agree. Like I get that there were some really great scenes, characters and elements of the original book that were changed or left out the first time, but they could just rework those into a new Crow or into an adaptation of some of the other Crows.

We got Eric's story and it was a cinematic classic. Do someone new!

I wonder if this will end up being like Deadpool where the positive reception to the leaked test footage revived the project.

He is too big. I like how slim and wiry Lee was as Crow. It fit the grunge style and atmosphere. Not to mention, it was not beholden to a particular mode of superhero film. Eric wasn’t your typical overly buff superhero.

@Toecutter - He's aging himself out now but Tom Hiddleston gives me strong Crow vibes in Thor 2 when he is in jail and his hair is crazy.

Original one was a perfect movie in my opinion. I'd rather they just re-release that in theatres. I can't see the crow working in any other the time than the 90's. It was just too perfect

I only knew Brandon Lee from The Crow but some time ago I watched his two movies prior to the Crow and I thought that they were fun movies. It's a shame that he died so young.
