Barry (Grant Gustin) teams up with Wells (Tom Cavanagh) to figure out a way to close the breaches, but they are distracted by a meta-human nicknamed Tar Pit (guest star Marco Grazzini) who can transform into liquid asphalt. Iris (Candice Patton) is concerned for Wally’s (Keiynan Lonsdale) safety after she finds out about his drag racing hobby. When he refuses to stop she makes a bold move that puts her in danger. Rachel Talalay directed the episode with story by Brooke Eikmeier and teleplay by Kai Yu Wu & Joe Peracchio.
After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion – and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become...The Flash.

So last night was kind of pointless to the plot of season 2... I was almost thinking Zoom had to be Eddie cuz Eobard was still alive.

@TheNerdGuy

I understood his explanation of the infinite earths and altered timeline realities buuuuut... If Cisco would cease to be by changing Eobards path in a non relevant time then I would think the same for Eobard. Eddie would be alive by this logic unless Eobard came from E2, E3, E4, or etc... If Eddie was relevant to Eobard being alive then I would think Eddie being dead would alter the time line in the same fashion it did Cisco in last nights episode. So Eobard still being born is proof that Eddie survived somewhere and altered Eobards path that is happening now.
Long explanation short.... This is how events play out and alter itself in a time travel paradox where Eddie was always meant to survive him shooting himself and survives the singularity. Because Eobard is still on his same path and is alive.
Na-Eye-Mean? Its all just a cluster F of guesses but its what makes sense based on what I've seen....

But you have opened my mind to the idea that Jay could be Zoom... Im going to rematch some episodes to see if Jay and Zoom are ever in the same place in front of Barry or the Crew.

@TheNerdGuy

"Like Kyle Reese & John Connor, they will both exist no matter what, over and over again cause they are temporal paradoxes. Barry's mom is going to die over and over again no matter what, which is why Barry still has his powers and why the future that Eobard saw on his newspaper still happens."

first off - the whole Kyle Reese is John Conners father thing seems like an incorrect time travel paradox... After the first time Kyle Traveled back he altered the timeline to change who John Conner from his time line was in the timeline he appears in T1... Every movie after that changes the non permanent future that each time traveler comes back from. So they are actually altering time in the Terminater franchise... What I'd like to see in a comic or movie for Terminator is the original time line before Kyle traveled back the first time. How did John Conner become the leader in that timeline??

Ok Terminator ramble over... back to Zoomy Zoom Zoom...

We still don't know how Eddie is relevant to Eobard being born. Maybe he's actually great great grandfather to Eobard which means Eddie needs to survive to ensure Eobard is born. But if Eddies cousin is the one who is relevant to Eobard then Eddie's dead as phuck...

But like I said your Jay Garrick theory is good... I just feel like that explanation seems too easy for the complexity that is like the season1 Flash plot. I think the next couple of episodes will show us what Garrick has been up to.

@TheNerdGuy lol, yeah time travel is a total mindPhuck ... I don't know the Flash comics so well to understand how the speed force works totally.

For the "Fastest Man Alive", Barry seems to always not be fast enough too often...

Zoom is the Rival, and he's possessing Jay Garrick. That's what is killing him and what depleted his speed force. I think they're remixing JSA All-Stars' possession of Max Mercury with the classic origin of Hunter Zolomon.
But that would still mean that Zoom was originally someone else and got disembodied. Candidates could be Edward Clariss, Earth-2 Barry, Earth-1 Eddie Thawne, or the spirit of Eobard.

Harrison Wells is very close to becoming Johnny Quick. He just has to have the change of heart in the end. I hope he has a real plan to defeat Zoom and is just using the stolenspeedforce plot as a trap.

My guess is that Zoom is Hunter Zolomon from a different Earth (Earth-3?). Reason being that Zoom is for some reason obsessed with becoming the fastest man in every world, he knows how to use the breaches, he was a speedster before stealing Jay's powers and wants to steal Barry's also (is this why he's so fast?), and I don't believe the revelation of "Hunter Zolomon" is a throwaway fact. There's also the fact that Zoom showed up around the time that Jay got his powers, but was clearly more skilled at using them.
