It has been announced today that Keiynan Lonsdale (Insurgent) will play Wally West in season two of The Flash. While it hasn't been confirmed whether or not he'll ultimately suit up as Kid Flash, that's the name which is mentioned in the press release, and as Lonsdale has a recurring role, it sounds like it's something we'll see happen. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of the casting: "Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show." This is a significant addition to the show, and it's going to be very interesting to see if we get some Zoom casting at some point in the next few days. It's been a busy week for DC TV news this week after all, with news on Lucy Lane, Hawkman, and Vandal Savage. Thoughts?

He has the jawline for a flash / kid flash suit, I just hope they dont make him a speedster until at least season 3. We already have Zoom and Jay. Also does this mean we might see Daniel West the new 52 reverse flash?

He's got a dance background too. I like that dancers are getting cast as superheroes. I think it helps if they have that physicality.

It makes sense that Wally West would be black too, I don't know how they're going to explain his relation to them, but I'm pretty sure he's related in some way!

Joe West and Barry Allen had very good chemistry together. The West family in the show happens to be black so logic would suggest that Wally would be too! It's a great show and I'm looking forward to season 2! RUN BARRY RUN!

Any other ethnicity gets shitty treatment. Look at Hogun in Thor TDW. Look at people approving Marvel making Swinton the Ancient One, but had the Ancient One originally been black and Swinton was chosen, there would be a massive backlash. I'm a minority myself, yet I have no "representation".

Modern diversity is either a black male or a white woman.

Yes Wally is related to Iris.
Yes it is a race change in the show for Iris and now Wally (and hundreds of other characters in tv, movies and comics) because apparently who cares about Irish people and red heads right???

Just create new characters for diversity and stop changing what is, because by doing so it shows that racism is alive and well just focused in a different way

and worst of all, some people are stupid enough to think that those that want it to be true to the original source are being racist. They are too stupid to realize changing every character that's white to another race is in fact the real racism.

And racist to everyone, not just whites.
It shows whites are expandable and replaceable, it shows blacks don't deserve their own, new and original characters and it shows every race in between is irrelevant.

Stupid ass short-sightedness to the extreme
