We had heard that Warner Bros. was planning to return to the Super Bowl after a 17-year absence to debut the official trailer for The Flash, and we recently got confirmation that a first look at the Scarlet Speedster's solo outing is indeed on the agenda, along with several other major TV spots.
The Big Game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs is set to air this Sunday, and Heroic Hollywood has learned that a brief sneak peek is expected to screen around kick-off time, before the full spot launches towards the end of the first quarter.
If accurate, the teaser should be online shortly after 6:30pm ET.
Promos for Fast X and Transformers: Rise of The Beasts are also scheduled, along with new looks at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Little Mermaid and Pixar’s Elemental. Though not 100% confirmed, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and The Marvels spots may also debut.
The Flash star Ezra Miller has caused plenty of headaches with his troubling (some would say outright inexcusable) behaviour, but WBD and DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran will be hoping the movie will be good enough to cancel out (or at least combat) the negativity surrounding the film.
That obviously remains to be seen, but Gunn did hail the film as “probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made" during the recent DCU slate Q&A.
The Flash recently moved its release date up by one week, and is now set to race into theaters on June 16, 2023.
