Work Still Moving Ahead On THE FLASH?

Wrath of the Titans screenwriter Dan Mazeau, who once wrote a draft of The Flash script for Warner Bros., has revealed that the studio are still working on bringing other DC superheroes to the big screen and Barry Allen is high on their list.

With The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel both on their way, comic book fans are still patiently waiting for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to bring some of their other superheroes to the big screen now that the Harry Potter franchise has come to a close. Talking to blastr while promoting Wrath of the Titans, screenwriter Dan Mazeau (who once wrote a draft of The Flash for the studio) revealed the following. "I think Warner Bros. is finalizing their strategy of how they want to roll out their DC superheroes and obviously they've got Batman in an incredibly great place and Green Lantern, I think, performed okay. I think they probably would have liked it to have done better, but yeah, there is still a whole lot of excitement for the DC universe and I know The Flash is very high on the list."

"It's like anything though,"
he added. "It has to come together with the right cast. It has to come together with the right director and sort of the right moment and so they're trying to push the rock up the hill...hopefully there will be some news soon, but right now I can't really say anything else. As for his take on the movie, he confirmed that the Flash would have been Barry Allen but, "For fans of Wally [West], there were some things in that script that would make them happy also." So, it seems as if Mazeau has some sort of idea about the status of planned adaptation, but we are yet to hear anything official (Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim are said to be working on it). Is The Flash still on the top of your most wanted list of superhero adaptations? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

I'll be happy if we get it in 2014. Flash is second place on my list of comic characters to adapt (Wonder Woman is first).

Needs Wally West. I'm tired of DC's obsession with Barry's plain and boring ass.

Barry Allen > Wally West

@BruceLeroy: Well, Barry Allen sells better in the comics. I think they are just thinking like any other company would, and assuming the same financial difference would occur on screen.

A Flash movie would rock if done right. I think we'll see lots of bullet-time effects on this one. Nice!

C'mon WB!

Wally West brought coolness and personality to The Flash character.
But if anything, I'd hope that they make Allen with Wally's personality in the film.

Anyhow,
I agree with TEABAG, the news has been brought countless times over the years, but always ends up getting put in limbo. They just need to shut up, and let their actions talk.
And I hope DC/Warner Bros. doesn't make the mistake they did with Green Lantern.

I really know nothing about Flash tho a movie could fix that. I hope this is a build up for a Justice League movie and a badass Martian Manhunter solo spin-off?)

This movie will be Stee-rike Three for DC/WB. Strike two being "Man of Steel" and that will be all she wrote for any chances of a JLA movie. Marvel FTW!

yup, theyd have to be super creative & original with the SFX in a flash movie.

Speeding up flash's movement is low budget, and would look like a joke.

The "red blur" would be ridiculous as audiences would say, "what the hell did I miss?"

Bullet time ok . . . but that has been done before and would be very cliche.

According to DCs Who's Who, the world moves slow in the flash's eyes when he is going superfast. Awesome concept, but who wants to watch an action sequence where everyone is moving slow . . . that has been done before too.

WB Studios, you have your work cut out for you on this movie. Make the SFX memorable and make stuff we never seen before . . . otherwise (sniffle) don't make a flash movie!!!

Don't be Marvel Studios with Iron Man II:P

HELAGOOD

I think WB just didn't have the balls to venture to their other big name characters, I mean since 1979, we've had 7 Batman films including TDKR and 6 Superman films including MOS with only that failure GL being the only other one within a 32 year timespan, they were more than capable of making something else happen? and then David Spade could play Impulse...

@0sagemode0 i used to work for WB as an art director for many years and i always saw them play it safe... especially with animation. they were always waiting to see what Disney would do first and then follow suit... but really badly.

Who ever makes this film is going to have to make it interesting enough for the audience to care about a Superhero who can run real fast. It can't be corny like GL was and I can easily see this movie turning out that way with the wrong director/actors. Giving The Flash an actual personality like he had in JL/JLU would be cool but that's just me.

A well done backstory on the Flash would be pretty killer.
Don't have him don the suit too early. Maybe even a good vehicle
to allude to (other) DC x-overs.

I would love to see the Flash, yep in someways be like Marvel Studios and perhaps tie them in to a collective universe, however don't be like Marvel Studios and sacrifice the potential for great movies for ok to good movies just so you can advertise your big action flick. I will explain what I mean by that comment is if you take Thor, that really should have been the LOTR's of the CBM's and Captain America I think should have been Saving Private Ryan WW2 epic CBM, but because of their timing issues in trying to get the Avengers out and tied together, both movies suffered and parts of the movies became just promotions for the Avengers, which made the actual film suffer. Just my opinion I, but just feel as much as we can't wait for the Avengers the solo films would have been better if they all could have got 1 solo non - tied in movie.
