THE FLASH: Ben Affleck Says He Had "Fun" Playing Batman Again After "Difficult" Time On JUSTICE LEAGUE

Ben Affleck has spoken about his decision to reprise the role of Batman in The Flash for the first time, revealing that he had "a great time" stepping back into the cape and cowl after Justice League.

We've known that Ben Affleck is set to return as Batman for the Andy Muschietti-directed The Flash movie for a while now, but the actor has spoken about his decision to reprise the role for the first time during an interview with Variety.

“It was a really nice way to revisit that as the prior experience had been difficult,” Affleck told the trade at a tastemaker screening of his upcoming George Clooney-directed film, The Tender Bar. “This was really lovely. Really fun.”

It's no secret that Affleck - and most of his castmates, for that matter - had a rough time shooting Justice League when Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the movie in Zack Snyder's absence (the actor was also dealing with some personal troubles), and while he would later get the chance to return and film some additional scenes for the recent "Snyder Cut," he clearly relished the opportunity to take up the cape and cowl again under slightly better circumstances.

“I had a great time,” he added. “I’m probably under some gag order that I’m not even aware that I probably just violated and I’m now going to be sued.”

Indeed, aside from the initial trade reports, Affleck's return as the Dark Knight has never actually been made "official" until now - though we did see some set photos and video of his stunt double shooting action scenes in-costume as the Caped Crusader.

Christina Hodson wrote the The Flash's script, with Michael Disco and Marianne Jenkins on board as executive producers. Plot details are still under wraps, but the story is expected to be at least partially influenced by the Flashpoint comic book arc.

In addition to Affleck and Miller, Sasha Calle will make her DCEU debut as Supergirl, Michael Keaton will also be back as his take on Batman, and Kiersey Clemons will reprise the role of Iris West.

The Flash is scheduled to race into theaters on November 4, 2022.
