THE FLASH Movie Loses Another Director; IT Helmer Andy Muschietti Set To Take Over With New Writer

The Fastest Man Alive has been given a new blast of life at Warner Bros., as the studio has hired It director Andy Muschietti to helm the long-gestating DC Comics adaptation. More past the jump...

The Flash movie has lost directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, but gained It filmmaker Andy Muschietti.

Warner Bro.' solo outing for The Scarlet Speedster has been in and out of development for years now, with Daley and Goldstein just the latest in a long line of directors to depart the project.

Last we heard, star Ezra Miller (who is still on board to reprise the role of Barry Allen) was co-writing the latest draft of the script with comics author Grant Morrison. However, THR reports that WB has decided not to move forward with their version and instead hired Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey) to pen a brand new screenplay.

Previous reports indicated that Miller wanted a darker take on the character, which led to conflict with Daley and Goldstein who were dead set on a lighter tone. It sounds like all parties have found a compromise with the creative team of Muschietti and Hodson, so hopefully the movie actually gets off the ground this time.

Prep on The Flash expected to begin in January of next year.
