An impressive start at the international box office for Thor: The Dark World to go along with plenty extremely favourable reviews then! Sound off with your spoiler-free thoughts in the usual place!

Marvel’s "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

@Dev7

No way does TDW make $300M domestic. If MOS couldn't, then TDW definitely won't either.

Wow that's really good, and it hasn't even hit the North American market yet. Can anyone put up how much Iron Man 3 and Avengers debuted overseas?

MOS was not shit. Th best Superman movie to date and, IMO, the CBM of the year so far. ;D

Movie is going to make solid money and it's getting good reviews/fan reactions. Can't wait to see it!

Man of Steel was one of the best CBMs ever, fk the haters. I think Thor: The Dark World will make around the same give or take a couple million.

Good for Thor! More money the better, just be ready for the Hunger Games tidal wave coming. It'll do better than the first but Iron Man 3 or breaking $1B, I predict a giant NO.

Dev7 said MOS was shit... haha, I'm sorry but your argument is already invalid.

@BlackJack10 very true,

that's pretty good start,the uk has had only had one movie to hit the £100,000,000 mark that was skyfall.

hope it does well enough for a third movie,marvel bring back alan taylor as well.

@theheat MOS and TDW are very different situations. TDW is a sequel both to the first Thor and more importantly to the Avengers, which was the best selling CBM of all time. MOS was a remake and the first of it's respective series. It is very likely that TDW will make more than MOS.

It also says it is on track to break 100mil by the end of Sunday overseas. That's not too bad at all. The 45 mil is only couning the few countries that opened Wednesday and trough Fridays numbers. The rest is coming today and tomorrow.
Avengers did like 185 opening overseas and IM3 did something close to that if IRC, but 100+ is pretty awesome for Thor, who will never bring in Ironman or Avengers type money anyways.

When will you DC fags learn to stop overrating Man of Steel as if it were the Godfather and The Dark Knight combined? Just because you thought it was a great comic book movie doesn't mean the rest of the world shared your opinion. The reviews were mediocre at best. Its domestic commercial success dropped off rather precipitously after the first week.

I am not saying Thor will beat MOS. But please stop acting like it was this unreachable benchmark in the genre.

That right there is a weird idea of an opinion.

While I don't think that TDW will make 1 Billion, I wouldn't be surprised either if it did.

Some people here say that Thor isn't as popular as Iron Man and they're right: Thor isn't. But Loki is.
RamonSuarez
RamonSuarez - 11/2/2013, 9:56 AM
LOL. Batmaniac is buttsore.

But the truth is that anyone who says Thor doesn't have a chance to hit Man of Steel's $662,845,518 box office is full of shit.

The first Thor made $449,326,618 as a B-list superhero property.

This was before the Avengers came out.

Are you seriously telling me a well done Thor sequel doesn't have a half decent shot of reaching the 650 million mark? Please.

Get Snyder's and Goyer's dicks out your mouths and realize that not everyone was as keen on MOS as you were.

I'm not at all saying that, I could see it making $700 million+ now. This is fantastic for the industry. But don't be an asshole and put another movie down to prove how successful your's is. And very classy calling people "DC fags" for disagreeing on a film's quality.

@JamesMan

But I didn't put MOS down here, did I? I put down the [frick]tards who continue to overrate its critical and commercial success as some benchmark in the genre that can't be touched.

Fact is that the high opinion some here have towards MOS as "the greatest CBM of the year" doesn't match the wider consensus of the moviegoing public.

MOS was a good commercial success relative to the money DCE spent and a critical mediocrity according to the BO and critic's reviews.

But MOS was not the most critically celebrated or commercially successful film of year.

Nor is its 650+ million dollar worldwide gross unattainable for well received blockbuster in November.

Man of Steel and Thor TDW are a success, undeniably.

They made massive amount of money and are fun to watch. Overall critics praise them.

Epic movies both. Period.
