Shown at yesterday's “Professional Cinema Days in Sorrento” convention in Italy, where Marvel Studios presented exclusive raw footage as detailed here, the first piece of promotional artwork for Thor: The Dark World has now surfaced online. Featuring the titular hero, check it out below!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In addition to “Thor: The Dark World”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on more iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

following your logic, shouldn't supes wear that in the new movie ???
Stumblin
Stumblin - 12/7/2012, 11:04 AM
@CarlXVIGarfield, I know but essentially it's the same pose, hammer is in different hand. They could have done something more original as opposed to rehashing the same exact pose.

Superman hasn't proven anything yet? Well, that mediocre film from 2006 with cheaper ticket prices made more money domestically than 3 of Marvel's Phase One films, Thor, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk....says quite a bit about the popularity of the character.

Meh to this crap art.....give us something real!

You need some help if you think Elektra and Ghost Rider were better than SR.....still, what does that say when SR out-grosses these watered down Marvel films?
