Has Tom Hiddleston Had Enough Of Playing Loki In The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Tom Hiddleston served as the lead villain in both Thor and The Avengers, and had a major role in Thor: The Dark World too. Is that more than enough mischief for the British actor? Well, it's beginning to sound like he's unsure just how much more Loki fans want...

Based on the ending of Thor: The Dark World, common sense says Loki will be back for Thor: Ragnarok. Tom Hiddleston has been dodging questions about a possible return during the entire press tour for Crimson Peak, and it's beginning to sound like the actor is having doubts about playing the God of Mischief for a fourth time.

"I never quite know whether people want to see him again or whether people want to move on… I can’t really take the temperature on it," he told MTV News. "I would try not to repeat myself. I would try to do something new. I never want to feel like I’m retreading the same steps. I guess it’s like any actor who plays a character over and over again. I wonder what it’s like for the guys who play the Avengers!"

Are you guys hoping to see more of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or have you had more than enough?

@Niklander

LOL! Personally I feel as though most of Marvel's bad guys are one dimensional, but Koki is a big exception. They have really fleshed him out so I would not mind more Loki

Pretty sure if he steps off people gonna start to trash talk him, because it's not more with Marble Stoodios. Anyhow like @JoeMomma29 says, money talks.

I like Hiddleston a lot, but I was actually down for Loki to really die in Thor TDW. I think the redemptive, sacrificial death is the best finale the character could have gotten.

He's just saying he wants to make sure the character doesn't become stale.

I hope to see him again in Ragnarok. He's important to the story. He should die in Ragnarok though.

He should keep the role as a safety net. It's yet to be seen if he can open a movie by himself. The next few months will shed more light on that. If it turns out he's not much of a draw outside the MCU, then he'll be glad Loki's there to fall back on.

BTW, I've been following this guy since his Wallander days on the BBC.

Characters come and go in comics. Let him have some down time and then bring him back in Phase 4 or 5 and have something new and fresh happening. The Marvel Universe is far too deep and complex to rely on one or two villains for the entirety of its film run.

Don't have Loki as the main villain and I'm ok with it. Unless they can do something new with him, not interested personally

He knows that the hype and popularity of the MCU is coming to an end.

There will come a time where people realise that the Marvel movies have their characters, plots, settings etc. basically everything rehashed over and over again to the point that it becomes like a predictable tv show you just want cancelled. When that time comes, everyone will realise, aside from cheap entertainment, watching the MCU movies is pointless.

The MCU will become a bit like what The Big Bang Theory is now.

But is this general superhero fatigue? Perhaps. Is there any way to know for certain? No until the DCEU kicks off and people can determine their thoughts on whether those movies are all essentially the same or not.

Loki and Winter Soldier have been the only solid villains so far and I imagine Disney knows this. They're not letting Tom walk away any time soon.

Loki killed Odin, and sat on Asgard's throne. Now, with Thor heading back to Asgard to "get answers,' he'd have to inevitably find Loki's treachery. So, if Loki/Tom Hiddleston doesn't appear in the next Thor film, it would defeat the purpose of Thor: The Dark World, and mess up continuity. And you know Kevin Feige is big on continuity.

this is dumb. Hiddleston has given no indication he's tiring of playing Loki.

And Feige has already said he is in Thor: Ragnarok.

My favorite Marvel (movie!) villian by far. I still think that we will see him one last time in Thor Ragnarok. At least I hope so ...
