New THOR: THE DARK WORLD Details Revealed From ‘Algrim the Strong/Kurse’ AAA

From teasing another potential Marvel role to describing his dual Kurse/Algrim villain in Thor: The Dark World, actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje reveals who his character will do battle with!

The folks from MTV News recently caught up with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje during HBO's Golden Globes party, where he went in-depth about his dual villain role in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World. Portraying the Dark Elf Algrim the Strong/Kurse, Akinnuoye-Agbaje offers a detailed description of the character while revealing who he'll do battles with in the sequel. In addition, the English actor also teases another role he may tackle within Marvel's universe; maybe in Guardians of the Galaxy.

“Thor 2; great movie, great opportunity. I've been a fan of the Marvel Comics and I got a massive opportunity to play two characters in the movie: Algrim and Kurse. You go in thinking, 'Yeah this is great.' But when you get in there, you're like whoa; six hours of makeup, prosthetics, all the physical [stuff]. But honestly, I loved it. It's going to be such an epic. And both of the characters; I have blonde hair, blue eyes, pointed ears, fangs, horns; everything you could want as boy in an action hero movie. It's amazing. The Fighting was really demanding. For instance, Kurse is the one that does all the fighting. It's forty pounds of extra weight and the good thing about it is that it's very flexible and elastic. I have a routine before I put it on: I stretch and do all my pilates. You see this big creature doing pilates, it's great. And then we'd have to go fight. Me and Chris [Hemsworth] go toe-to-toe. It was hardcore. But you don't really get into [these kinds of movies] of you're not ready for that kind of thing. You gotta be mentally fit, physically fit because you're going to shoot a scene ten to fifteen different ways.”

“[Thor and Kurse] fight differently. Chris has his hammer while Kurse is very animalistic, he's got horns. So I tried to go with that flow. My movements are [basically] like an animal: twisting my body, turning my head, all kinds of things. Kurse is meant to be extremely powerful, nothing can stop him. It's a great ride. There's fights everything in the movie. Loki gets his fair share of fights; [one of which] is between him and I as well. The great thing about Kurse is he is having it with everybody. But yes, Loki has some amazing fights. [Fans] are really gonna be happy with this movie. Everybody gets their little shine. I won't tell you what really happens, but there's some great surprises.”

“As we speak, [Marvel and I] are talking about [playing in another Marvel movie]. Obviously, Marvel is a great family that I'm happy to be working with. We had a great time on Thor: The Dark World. I loved to continue that relationship. (After Guardians of the Galaxy was brought up) I'm not talking about anything yet, just having a good relationship with Marvel.”

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

The first time I saw him was on Oz playing Adebisi. He's a scene stealer, gonna be epic. He's prob in consideration for Drax, not Black Panther.

Also, Ty Olsson would be a good name to throw in with all the other names for Star Lord.

Too early for Panther casting methinks. I don't like him for Drax either. Maybe he s doing mo-cap for Groot. Or even Rocket Raccoon. I like the idea of a big scary black man playing a raccoon.
Here s an even better possibility: Thanos. Whoever they get isn't going to be some massive A-list actor. Marvel's cheap and what big name actor really wants to spend hours in a makeup chair every day only to have his moneymaker covered n gobs of purple goo for 2 movies. They're gonna get a strong character actor or somebody like AAA.

I can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear someone rave about their experience working on a Marvel movie.

Goes to show that not everyone is a prima donna, and the studio isn't abusing their actors like Mickey Rourke says.

Hiddleston is, as always, enthused - likewise with Hemsworth. Downey Jr is like Marvel's poster boy - he loves it.

I don't know, I think it just depends on the actor - who has class, who doesn't. Who thinks they are entitled, and who is proud of their work. Props to Adewale for being proud!
