Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. It opens in theaters November 8, 2013.

Anthony Hopkins as Odin is really understated. Talk about reverse miscast. I can't picture any other actor in the role.

Wow. These shots look amazing. My envy to the ones who've seen the movie already!

But hey! I got ONE question for those who've seen this already: Were there any overt Shakespeare references in the movie? Just askin!

@Amazing512

You're in for a treat, it's my favorite stand alone Marvel movie. Better in every way compared to the first one (and I really like that one too)!

Well since no one else is gonna bring it up I guess I will... I'm not sure whether it's cool or not, the '616 Universe' reference on the chalkboard behind Selvig.

the movies so good! Just saw it last night. Best Thor action ever, Loki is great. Malekith looks great and you wont be disappointed to Kurse, believe me :)

This movie brings so much magic, monsters, 9 realms, action and the tone of the humor is just perfect for the movie. Hemsworth really brings the best Thor in this one, Loki and he shares great and also funny scenes.

Has anyone noticed that on the chalkboard behind Selvig, it says "616 Universe". LOVE details like that! This movie is going to be absolutely amazing. Can't wait.

The comedy was spot on, the audience I saw it with was really into it. Selvig has never been better.

Saw it on Wednesday, might see it again this weekend.

SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS THREAD HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE AND ARE TALKING ABOUT IT, I'LL ASK AGAIN:

DID ANYONE NOTICE OR CATCH ANY SHAKESPEARE REFERENCES?? JUST ASKING...AND NO NEED TO DESCRIBE ANY SPECIFIC SCENES.

@Freedom You do realise most of the people on this site haven't seen the movie yet, right?

I for one am glad that they brought Selvig back; it was a neat way of showing the 'world after The Avengers' without ramming it down audience's throats.

Nothing comes to mind. They don't really exploit London, it's just the New Mexico for this movie.

I wish the costume designers would have spent the same amount of dedication and time as the team of the LOTR movies did.

@TheAstoundingMan Thanks... I just wanted to know if there were any specific reasons Jane and Co. were in London this time around and if any references to King Lear were mentioned...

I have to say that I really didn't like what they did with Selvig in this. I don't even dislike his arc in general, but I feel HOW they did it was pretty undignified. Sadly very little of the Earth-related funny stuff worked for me, especially when contrasted with the pretty damn amazing serious stuff it often interrupted.

And I'm not saying there shouldn't be humour in the movie, I'm actually all for that. But make it less jarring. Probably utilize characters like the Warriors Three as comic relief instead of, urm, creating a brand new comedy sidekick for the returning comedy sidekick and giving them scenes of questionable relevance and neccessity.

A Thor TDW that took itself more seriously might've well ended up being my favourite Marvel movie. What we got is a nice, entertaining movie, which I guess isn't a bad thing. I liked it better than first, anyways.

I seriously hope CA:TWS will be less "funny". :/

There is too much back in forth in each review

Some all they talk about is the comedy and say how it sucks

Some say the comedy is a good balance and they also talk how great character interaction is
with Thor and Loki, the action, saying how Malekith raises the stakes, and how Kurse is awesome

Seeing how the negativity is only coming from the comedy I think some may just not like comedy in general or they just don't like comedy in a CBM, while not highlighting any other parts in Thir that was actually good
XelCorp
XelCorp - 11/1/2013, 5:17 AM
@Dinotron- EXACTLY. The people who say this film is bad can only bring up comedy...which one thing like that doesn't mean that the movie sucks...for a movie to suck it needs a list of damn problems
