THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Merchandise Reveals New Look At The Two God Of Thunders, "Goat Boat," And More

Marvel Studios has officially dropped the first merchandise for Thor: Love and Thunder, but don't get too excited about a trailer just yet. Remember, we waited months for the first footage from Spider-Man: No Way Home after those toys were unveiled, but you never know with Disney.

Regardless, there are some great reveals here, most of which confirm either rumoured story details or those teased in various set photos. Both Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) look incredible in their new costumes, and, as suspected, the latter will be wielding a reformed version of Mjolnir after Hela destroyed it in Thor: Ragnarok.

Despite only appearing here as a LEGO Minifigure, Gorr the God Butcher is clearly keeping that divisive ghostly appearance we saw in those Thor: Love and Thunder set photos. Valkyrie is now "King Valkyrie," and it looks like New Asgard has become a tourist hotspot since Avengers: Endgame!

Oh, and yes, it appears the black blade being wielded by Gorr could indeed be the Necrosword!

It's always interesting for a first look at a movie as big as this one to be revealed via toys, but promo art, posters, and action figures have all leaked online in recent months. Again, it's possible a trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder will be released imminently, but we're tempering expectations for now as these reveals could just be a way of pre-empting the toys hitting stores!

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8.

I'll wait for the non-toy versions of each. Although, I'm already tethered to this next film I think. It should be good fun.

@Evansly - Ragnarok was awesome no way this movie doesn’t kick ass. Anyone who didn’t like ragnarok probably got a big old dump in their pants

Fixed it.

@Tpo81 - I'm a huge fan of it. Probably the MCU movie I had seen in theaters the most before Infinity War and End Game.

There are some trolls on here that seem to hate that movie just as much as the Last Jedi.

My fear with these large movies is that they are doing too much and the actual story will be lost in trying to one up itself.

NWH handled this way better than anything I grew up with but movies like Spider-Man 3 still give me hesitation.

I hope you have a good day!

@Evansly - not a troll thing. Those who don’t like Ragnorak mostly don’t like it because they’ve bastardized Hulk and Thor. Hulk is a sight gag and end game made Thor a sight gag as well. These are slapstick characters now
Evansly
Evansly - 2/21/2022, 11:15 AM
@McMurdo - I choose to see Thor's character as going through severe depression and less as a joke. Just like with life people poke at it without really knowing what the person has gone through.

Hulk could definitely have his story better done and maybe they'll go back and tell old stories similar to Black Widow. I would love to see him take on Wolverine but not with the injury

Regardless the MCU is it's own interpretation of the IP so thinks will be different whether we like it or not.

@McMurdo - Hahahaha, with you and loads of others, it's definitely a troll thing considering it's humour is very similar to that of The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker etc. only with no swearing. Yet you jizz all over that no problem.

@Whaley87 - Peacemaker isn’t Hulk and Thor buddy. Nor any of the no names in TSS. King Shark I actually complained Gunn made him Drax 2.0 but he’s far better than Drax and genuinely was a fun char in that film so other than that? Harley was [frick]ing Harley and that’s as close to a big name as Hulk and Thor as any in that film get. I though Waller was on another level too!

You must get some strange looks in the toy shop sometimes, taking pictures of the boxes.

the last Thor movie moved away from being somewhat serious to pretty silly. Hell even how thor talks went from old english to frat bro. Not looking forward to this next movie.

Razorface1 - 2/21/2022, 9:45 AM
@Nunyabiz - yeah, I really don't get how the fans ate it up like that when everyone was asking for a "more serious" movie.
URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 2/21/2022, 9:50 AM
@Nunyabiz - Old English is a dead language, and you'd be unable to understand it at all if someone was speaking in you when using it. Marvel's Norse Pantheon (CB, not movies) speaks with an archaic version of Modern English. Most of it is comprehensible to the regular English-speakers, but they use archaic words often, like "thy", "thee", "thou" etc. MCU Thor never actually used archaic words like those. He never said Thor's iconic lines like "Aye!" or "I say thee NAY!".

Now, you're totally right, Thor Ragnarok was atrocious and didn't get the character or his world AT ALL. That's a fact. The way Thor shows zero concern for Warriors Three and Sif is a proof enough, or how Brunhilde in name only doesn't help Thor save Asgard right away and because of her inaction people die. Those characters are not the characters that are in the comics even a little.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 2/21/2022, 10:53 AM
@Razorface1 - the difference between James Gunn and Taika is so evident when you watch Peacemaker or even TSS. One of them can do humor and characterization without sacrificing one for the other.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that even Batman & Robin was more accurate to the world and character of Batman than Waititi's take on Thor was to that character. You'd not make me say I'm excited for yet another take on Thor from him even under a gunpoint. He just doesn't get it.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Taika's take doesn't suit *YOUR version of the character. Thor has been in comics for decades, there's a tonne of takes on him, and IMO Taika's take is a wonderful combination of many comic vibes.

Not saying you have to like it obvs, free to have your own opinion, but you point blank can't say objectively that he doesn't "get" Thor - he does.

@SeanMPC - "Taika's take doesn't suit *YOUR version of the character."

My version of the character is the one that's in the comics. And the one that's in the comics isn't a sarcastic dudebro who never shows concern for his dead or missing friends.

"Thor has been in comics for decades,"

Plus over a thousand years in the form of pagan deity.

"there's a tonne of takes on him,"

Okay, point me toward a take on Thor in the comics where doesn't care about Warriors Three dying and instead tries to be a comedian for most of the story.

"and IMO Taika's take is a wonderful combination of many comic vibes."

What comic vibes? He's made a remake of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The comic vibes I'm getting from reading all sorts of Thor runs is grandiose, epic stories full of bravado and directly inspired by Viking Age and Eddas.

"Not saying you have to like it obvs, free to have your own opinion, but you point blank can't say objectively that he doesn't "get" Thor"

Not really. In the comics, Thor do-or-die for his brethrens, and when two of Warriors Three died in 2004 Ragnarok story, Thor said, "My heart is as broken as my hammer. I wish I could bring them all back." Waititi's Thor shows no concern for Warriors Three or Sif.

"he does."

Pal, he doesn't even like how CB Thor talks, please...

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - that’s your opinion… I think Ragnarok was the most accurate depiction of Thor and his strength yet in the MCU besides infinity war and endgame. Your not a fan of the comedic elements? Well maybe you shouldn’t watch marvel movies then.
SeanMPC
SeanMPC - 2/21/2022, 10:08 AM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - lol, I mean I was annoyed about how the Warriors Three got shafted too, but then... took a breath, and went about my day enjoying the rest of the film! *shrug*

Sorry buddy, we clearly aren't going to agree here. Enjoy yourself!

@SeanMPC - Plus people need to keep in mind Waititi set out to make the character of Thor more interesting for movie goers. He's not writing the next huge arc for the comicbooks, he's writing and re-tooling Thor for the cinematic universe.
And for that , I feel he succeeded.

The majority consensus after the first two Thor movies was that he was outshined by Hiddlestons Loki.
And after the first two Avenger movies, Thor was considered one of the most boring of the main characters.
After Ragnarok and the 3rd and 4th Avengers movies, people now love Thor. Mission accomplished.

@slickrickdesigns - "Ragnarok was the most accurate depiction of Thor"

No, it wasn't.

"the most accurate depiction of Thor and his strength"

No, it wasn't.

Thor made Hela run for her life in the comics.

"Your not a fan of the comedic elements? Well maybe you shouldn’t watch marvel movies then."

I'm a fan of Thor. Why should the problem be in me if I want to see a Thor movie that feels like a Thor movie?

slickrickdesigns - 2/21/2022, 10:18 AM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - you understand you’re opinion is yours and that’s fine. But picking only the Thor you like from the comics doesn’t make you right. It just means you like that version of Thor. I’m a “fan” of Thor as well and own many comics and yeah I’d say the strength displayed in each movie with Thor showcases his powers growing each time. So yeah Ragnaroks Thor was more true to his strength than the previous films.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - I feel exactly how you do people complain about accurate in comic movies but comic characters go out of tone to comics to movies where Thor and hulk is big comedy joke that’s inaccurate there

This will be the best Thor movie… just my guess. Ragnarok was an awesome Buddy cop action/comedy. Much more entertaining than the previous Thor the Dark World. Thor 1 is still a good movie but Ragnarok had the proper action to display Thor’s strongest Avenger ability.
