It Sounds Like DOCTOR STRANGE's Role In THOR: RAGNAROK Will Be Even Bigger Than Expected

A message from Disney to fans confirms that Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme will appear in Thor: Ragnarok, but also indicates that we'll see the hero fighting alongside Thor and The Hulk...

Disney's D23 fan club has issued a newsletter about what they're most excited to see in 2017, and in it, they confirm that Doctor Strange will appear in Thor: Ragnarok. This is hardly surprisingly considering the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme met the God of Thunder in the mid-credits scene of his movie, while photos from the set of Thor's next solo outing showed him in New York City attempting to find the Master of the Mystic Arts. However, it now sounds like more than a cameo!

"We’ve all been obsessed with Baby Groot since he danced his way into our hearts in 2014, and now we can finally watch our favorite tiny, talking plant save the galaxy with his gang of unlikely heroes when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 zooms into theaters in May. If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new. Of course, we can’t talk about fighting off bad guys in space without mentioning a certain movie about the war in the stars… We may have wait until December, but Star Wars: Episode VIII will finally reveal what happens next to our favorite characters from The Force Awakens."

While this should by no means be taken as proof that we'll see Doctor Strange enter the gladiatorial arena alongside Thor and The Hulk, it definitely sounds as if the character will have a much bigger role here than previously expected. After all, having this trio standing side by side will make for a much bigger box office draw than the character making a brief appearance in his Sanctum Sanctorum!

We'll obviously have to wait and see, but this movie (which is currently flying under the radar until we start seeing some official material from it) keeps on sounding better and better, don't you think?
