Mark Ruffalo Teases A THOR: RAGNAROK Scene As Karl Urban Offers Hints About His Costume
It's nothing too exciting, but Mark Ruffalo has revealed one the scenes he filmed for Thor: Ragnarok while Karl Urban has discussed his prep and costume for Skurge the Executioner.
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is still in its early days of production with just two weeks of principal photography completed on the Gold Coast of Australia, but the studio’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con next week should provide new details and more. In the meantime, we can speculate and envisage based on quotes from the cast and crew.
Karl Urban, who will play Skurge the Executioner in Thor: Ragnarok, recently discussed his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut with IGN. The actor reassured that he’s shaving his head and bulking up for his Asgardian role, although the latter preparation may not be required. “The irony is that you won't actually see my body in this movie under the costume that I have,” he revealed, “but it's important for me to get into the zone and feel [the part].”
As IGN pointed out, Karl Urban posted an image on Twitter last week and it featured the Star Trek Beyond star at the Weta Workshop, which is the special effects and props company that worked on the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies, as well as the upcoming Justice League. And they are likely making Skurge’s weapon of choice: the enchanted axe.
In other Thor: Ragnarok news, Mark Ruffalo recently called into Australia’s 90.9 Sea FM's Galey and Charli radio show where he nonchalantly revealed a scene that he was filming that day opposite the God of Thunder himself and newbie Tessa Thompson. “I'm shooting a scene where I'm playing Hulk today with Chris Hemsworth,” he said. “And it's a moment where he's talking to Valkyrie asking her to join him.” Given Thor, Hulk, and Valkyrie are all heroes, it’s no surprise the latter two will eventually link up and come to the Odinson’s aid against the mischievous Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Skurge and villainess Hela (Cate Blanchett). However, it’s exciting to know they are shooting such scenes this early. What do you think?
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi, and it stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), with Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster) and Cate Blanchett (Hela). And Thor: Ragnarok is set to open in theaters on November 3, 2017.
