Last Friday's episode of The Boys proved to be quite the eventful hour - and not just because of the debauchery we witnessed at Herogasm. Among other things, we saw Homelander bested in battle for (presumably) the first time, A-Train enact lethal revenge on Bluehawk, and Starlight hang up her cape while exposing Vought and The Seven for what they really are.
Prime Video has now released a brief teaser promo giving us a little taste of what to expect from the penultimate season 3 episode, as Butcher, Hughie and Soldier Boy track down the next Payback member on their list, Queen Maeve returns (seemingly safe and sound... for now) and throws Homelander's recent loss in his face, and Soldier Boy completely loses it by going to town on someone's face with his shield.
Who is the unfortunate soul on the receiving end of such merciless punishment? You'll have to tune in this Friday to find out, but we can tell you that this episode, titled “Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed,” will delve into Billy Butcher's traumatic past.

"It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.
The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super powerful.
The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Jensen Ackles.
