GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Actor Peter Serafinowicz Has Been Cast As THE TICK

We recently found out that Amazon was planning a live-action reboot of The Tick without Patrick Warburton in the title role, but fans shouldn't have too many issues with the actor that's been chosen.

Deadline reports that the great Peter Serafinowicz will play our new live-action version of The Tick in Amazon's reboot.

Fans were not best pleased when they found out Patrick Warburton wouldn't be returning after doing such a great job as Fox's short-lived take on the beloved character, but Serafinowicz has become quite the geek-icon in his own right so there shouldn't be too many complaints.

We also have our first logline for the new show:

The blue-suited Tick is recovering from a memory loss and ends up reteaming with his sidekick Arthur (Griffin Newman) to fight evil. The two are surrounded by a new host of characters that include Arthur’s sister Dot (Valorie Curry).

Creator Ben Edlund will write the pilot episode of The Tick, and will also executive produce, with cinematographer Wally Pfister in talks to direct.

Such good casting. Here's hoping they go Deadpool with the mask this time around.

@nightman - Definitely! At the time, I felt like Seinfeld guy was PERFECT for the role(the show still holds up too), but the one thing I disliked about it was the mask. Obviously they didn't have the CGI back then to do it justice, but I always felt that was a drawback of the live action show(however minor, since he did such a great job portraying the character). The Tick, to me, HAS to have his face covered. One of the things I liked about the character in the cartoon was; We had NO idea what he really was under the mask. Everything about him said he wasn't from this planet. Or, if he was, he was far removed from it. A Stranger in a Strange Land, if you will. The live action show put a face to him. Making The Tick seem like.... just some Autistic dude. Idk. Maybe I missed an episode where his origins was explained? If so, I'd rather stay blissfully ignorant because that was one of the things I Love most about the character. He just showed up one day, acting completely inhuman, but with character traits most humans would be more.... human if they exhibited. Like an alien that observed us and downloaded all of our best qualities, then got amnesia and forgot where he came from, but stil retained the downloaded info. In fact, now that I think about it, The Tick reminds me A LOT of @Dethpillow. That dude is DEFINITELY an alien. Which explains why he's one of my favorite posters here.... Uh. Point being; an emotive mask, like Deadpool had, would be AWESOME on The Tick.

That live action show was pretty terrible anyway. The cartoon was, and still is, fantastic.
