THE WALKING DEAD Casts Fan-Favourite Character 'Jesus' For Season 6
An actor with a striking resemblance to Jesus (a.k.a. Paul Monroe) was recently spotted on the set of The Walking Dead season six, and the actor playing this fan-favourite character from Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's hit comic book series has finally been revealed...
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that British actor Tom Payne has been cast as Jesus in the sixth season of The Walking Dead. The Luck alum will have a recurring role in the series, with the option to return in season seven next year (seeing as the character is still alive and kicking in the Image Comics series, chances are that he'll be back). Introduced in issue #91 of The Walking Dead, Paul Monroe hails from the Hilltop Colony and becomes a close friend and ally to Rick Grimes in the battle against Negan. The trade describes this version of the character as, "a rare logical man and skilled adviser with a strong sense of morals and values who is well-adapted to the new world." Whether we're going to see that villain this year remains to be seen, but we may be building to that happening in a future season (first the survivors are going to have to square off with The Wolves).
