THE WALKING DEAD Is Not A Dream

There have been a lot of theories on how the zombie apocalypse began in Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead. However, one theory gaining momentum is that the zombie apocalypse everyone is watching unfold is just a coma-induced dream manifesting Rick's fight to wake up.

Is Rick Grimes still in his coma?  Is the zombie apocalypse really just a symbolic, coma-induced dream manifesting the internal battle Rick is undergoing to wake up?   It's a theory that many Walking Dead fans subscribe to, however, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman says that's 100% not true.  Taking to twitter to respond to a recent Uproxx article, Kirkman set the record straight.

If you want to read the original Uproxx article, you can click the link included in Kirkman's tweet.  No one really knows how the zombie apocalypse actually started except Kirkman.  Originally, Kirkman pitched Image Comics on The Walking Dead as the idea that the zombies were reanimated horrors by aliens, bent on disrupting the Earth's infrastructure before invasion.  However, that was just a ruse by Kirkman to get Image to sign off on the comic and he had no intentions of actually using that storyline.   Recently, Kirkman has given indication that the comic book series may be drawing to the end however that depends on whether the popularity of the series wanes.  Said Kirkman in a past interview on the subject----

"I have an end in mind for the comic, and I actually wrote the final scene the other day. I know what I want the final dialogue to be. It may change but the interesting thing to me is that I can never tell anyone involved in this show what the ending that I have in mind is because the comic book most likely will outlive the show. I can't have any nugget of what I have planned making it into the show, because if the show ends on season 12 but the comic doesn't end for, eight, 10 or 20 more years, my ending will be spoiled. That would piss me off."
