THE WALKING DEAD's Daryl Spinoff Will See Norman Reedus Fighting Running Zombies In France

Things are getting even crazier in The Walking Dead Universe with the news that the upcoming spinoff revolving around Daryl will see him heading to France to battle some super fast running zombies...

With The Walking Dead nearing its conclusion, AMC has doubled down on a number of spinoffs set in this post-apocalyptic world ruled by the undead. The series stopped adhering to Robert Kirkman's comic books a long time ago, and among the shows on the way are ones revolving around Rick Grimes and Michonne, Negan and Maggie, and Daryl and Carol.

While Melissa McBride will no longer be part of the latter, The Walking Dead Universe's head honcho, Scott M. Gimple, has now shed some light on what we can expect from the series.

"Daryl is a fish out of water to start with. If Daryl finds himself with new people, he's a fish out of water," the producer said (via FearHQ.com). "In France, in a country that's going through the apocalypse, [it's] an entirely different thing."

"He finds himself having to reinvent himself again, having to find himself again, and also, not being with – probably – the only people in the world he's comfortable with."

So, he's heading to France, but that's not the only change on the horizon. In The Walking Dead: World Beyond, we learned that there are super fast "variants" of walkers that are potentially man-made. This show looks set to explore that concept further, with Gimple saying the scene "is a bit of a tease of some of the things Daryl is going to face."

In other words, we'll see Daryl battling 28 Days Later-style man-made zombies. Has The Walking Dead Universe jumped the shark? A little, but we'd be lying if we said this doesn't sound like fun. As for how he gets to France, we're guessing it has something to do with the capabilities of the Civil Republic Military.

This show doesn't exactly sound like the "zombie apocalypse road trip" it was first billed as, but plans likely changed when McBride dropped out due to scheduling issues.

Are you looking forward to this upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff?
