ARROW Episode 205 Titled 'The Demon's Head' - Ra's al Ghul On The Way?

It appears the title for the fifth episode of The CW's Arrow is a dead give away that Batman villain Ra's al Ghul will have some sort of impact on Starling City in Arrow season 2. Read on for additional details.

CW Arrow Ra's Al Ghul

Fans of DC Comics' Batman comic book series and Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, should be aware that the name Ra's al Ghul translates from Arabic to Demon's Head. During the first season of Arrow, a possible clue to the villain was revealed when Malcolm Merlyn stated that he received his training in Nanda Parbat, which is a fictional city of DC Comics that's been a stronghold of Ra's League of Assassins in the past. The 5th episode will reportedly feature a character named "Awwal who is a Dark Archer, trained by Merlyn and [who] is after Lisa." The 'Lisa' in question is the new season 2 love interest for Oliver, one that was described as being "a mysterious woman with a tragic past. She will wreak havoc on Oliver's heart and is equal to Oliver in every way." If she was trained by the League then she'd definitely be a physical match for Oliver. The role of Lisa has yet to be cast/officially announced.

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

Cool Ra's Al Ghoul and the League of Assassin's would make for an even greater finale this time around.

Another reason why Arrow should stay away from the DCU.

Ra's give me an middle eastern man or it's shit. Stop giving us some half-assed character. The ruined Ra's in Batman Begins. Nothing like my favorite DC villian.

@niklander: He does look the part mate and is also close to the age I'd prefer Ra's to be in the reboot, which means a younger Bruce.

And I need to say, I loved Barrowman in the part of Merlyn. I didn't know he could be this badass. I hope they do find a way to keep him alive in Season 2.

If its called the League of Shadows, it's Nolanverse. If not, and they're the league of assassins, you'll know it will have nothing to do with nolan(which is probably the case). Either way, in 30 days well find out who's playing batman. Should bale come back, and the arrow takes on the league of shadows, safe to assume all is connected to the DCCU.

I initially got bored in the show, as it was turning out to be a stupid love triangle and Diggle never really jumped out to me as a character. However, around the mid-season finale, when Barrowman, Manu Bennett came up and Oliver's character-arc got better; this show really never looked back.Felicity Jones was a nice surprise too! ;)

Maybe its because the fact that the Monster of the Week format makes me cringe. I like it when the show begins to explore its mythology!

If it's canon to the current DCCU, then I don't know how I feel about Arrow fighting Ra's Al Ghul and the league of assassins before Batman. I always hoped if they made a new franchise of Batman films we'd see a more comic-book like Ra's down the line. If that were to happen, then Ra's can't die this season, and they'll have to keep the same actor. If it's Nolanverse then that means Arrow doesn't even take place after Batman Begins, because Nolan's Ra's is dead. If Arrow is self-contained then none of that matters lol.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for Ra's, atleast not in this episode. They always say they like to defy the expectations (the Arrow writers). Maybe Talia ? or just members of the League and a mention of Ra's.

What, "the Hood" doesn't have enough of his own villains?...

Anyway, I wonder if they'll go for the "Rahz" or the "Raysh" pronunciation.

@crashrendar and @ABH1979, they used a lot of arrow villains last season except for maybe Deadshot. Since season 1 was successful, I think what they are trying to do is link the other characters in the DC Universe to Arrow to establish a shared (television) universe. This helps promote the other characters as well as draw other fans to the show.

They should get Nestor Carbonell to play Ra's... Someone throw up a picture for me. Otherwise known as Richard Alpert from Lost or the Mayor from the Dark Knight Trilogy...
