ARROW Exec Producers Tease Season Finale Death Toll And Oliver Queen Heading Into Season 3

In anticipation of The CWs 'Arrow' season 2 finale, EW spoke to bosses Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti about the number of deaths we should expect to see in the episode (providing a number!) and how this changes Oliver Queen next season.

Things over at Starling City have really been hotting up lately with shock deaths as the battle between Slade Wilson/ Deathstroke and Oliver Queen/ Arrow comes to a mighty end.

EW caught up with executive producers (Kreisberg, Guggenheim and Berlanti) to talk about the conclusion.
When asked about the number of deaths fans should expect to see in the episode, they revealed characters stories will come to an end. Who exactly? This remains to be seen when the episode airs May 14th.

The trio also talked about how the events of season one and two will prepare Oliver Queen for future seasons;

"Well, it’s hard to answer since Oliver is dead. Kidding. Actually, the finale drew to a close Oliver’s season-long journey from vigilante to hero. He’s now poised to return to Starling City ready to be what the city
needs".

Interestingly, when asked to draw a scene from the finale 'Unthinkable' the producers gave this image:

So who are the mystery figures? Only Roy and Slade possess enough power to raise a person like that. But for the more slender (presumably female?) character, that's anyones guess. What do you make of the image, share your thoughts below.

OLIVER MUST DECIDE ONCE AND FOR ALL IF HE’S A KILLER OR A HERO — Slade (Manu Bennett) moves forward with his plan to kill one more person in Oliver’s (Stephen Amell)life. While Oliver has fought all year to be more than the killer he once was, when Slade kidnaps someone close to Oliver’s heart, Oliver is pushed to the edge and realizes sometimes it takes doing the unthinkable to stop the monster. Meanwhilee, Diggle (David Ramsey) takes on Amanda Waller (guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) with a little help from some friends, and Thea (Willa Holland) turns to Roy (Colton Haynes) in her time of need. John Behring directed the episode with story byGreg Berlanti and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Andrew Kreisberg (#223).

Please don't be Felicity. I also hope it's not Sara or Laurel.

I think it's SLADE and SARA!
Because it's very likely that Laurel is going to follow her footsteps and becomes the Canary sooner or later.

Yeah, Sara has to die for a Laurel to become the Black Canary, just like Yao Fei had to die for Oliver to become green arrow and Billy for Slade.

I guess it also could be Nyssa Raatko. If they kill her off in the next season they can bring in Ra's al Ghul played by Alexander Siddig. Plus throw in Ubu played by Marco Khan and you will have some great cast members joining Arrow next season. Just think about the fight between Slade and Ra's al Ghul it would be awesome.

Even though I hate for any of them to die, I'm calling Sara, Felicity, and Slade dying. With Laurel going on he path of being the Black Canary, Sara's death looks inevitable. With rumors of Felicity leaving the show, and promo photos showing Slade holding a blade to her neck, she's looking likely to die(also with it looking like Ollie going to be in the Flash pilot, it could be to bring the bad news). In the clip with Lance telling Oliver to kill Slade, and with everything Slade has done, his death is looking very likely. We know Diggle is suppose to return for season 3, Roy is on the path of becoming Arsenal, Thea being the only family Oliver has left, Laurel is on the path of becoming Black Canary, and Lance is Olivers eyes on the police force, their deaths looks unlikely.

Most likely Sara and Slade. It'd have to be someone tragic and connected to Slade though, either that or just something completely surprising. If Felicity dies, that would definitely make the finale memorable, but i wouldn't want her to die.

I want Felicity to die; the "romance" between her and Oliver is more forced than Thor and Jane Foster...

I really hope felicity makes ! Shes also needed for all the tech and comms of the arrow den and she could act as a bridge between Arrow and Flash. The character felt a little under developed compared to the first season so I think theres more to come from her.

@kinghulk The Lazarus Pit route is always there but I doubt they'll say it straight away after she dies.

Just saw it...who were the three?

Ravager...dead. Oliver, Sara, Laurel, Diggle, Felicity, Thea, Roy, Slade, Nyssa, Merlyn...all alive.

Detective Lance? Not sure if he's dead or alive.

Who else?

^I was wondering the same thing. But then I reread what was said:

"they revealed 3 characters stories will come to an end."

Not 3 deaths, but STORIES. Sarah's story ended. Ravager's story ended thru death and Lance appears to have died as well. If not, Thea's story appears to have come to an end, since she claims that she's never coming back.

Ravager is dead. Story ended.

Sarah's gone back to the League of Assassins. Story ended allowing Laurel to become the new BC.

Thea Queen's story has ended and now it's the beginning for Thea Merlyn.

I think the character we won't see in the beginning of season 3 is Detective Lance. I don't think they killed him off yet. I don't see where else his character can go though. Maybe him not surviving is what pushes Laurel to take over the BC role. He told her not to get any funny ideas when she put the jacket on, so it would make sense for her to use his death as the stepping stone, plus seeing the hero her sister was while donned as BC.

Thea left Roy, so he will most likely stick around for further training, since that's really all he has.

Felicity and Diggle will still be around. Felicity may be used as a cameo in a few of the Flash episodes, but she will still be a main on Arrow. Diggle will still be around due to A.R.G.U.S and Waller, who also has the new story line starting with Oliver (more flashback scenes from after he got off the island)

Would have liked to see another Harley Quinn cameo when Diggle was letting them out of their cells. He could have unlocked her door for help and they could have had her just run off and escape. Or at least had her ask if they would let her out too. It would have been another fitting cameo for her since she was there the last time.
