ARROW Executive Producers Talking With DC Comics About The Suicide Squad

A.R.G.U.S. has played a significant role in recent episodes of The CW's Arrow so it's only natural that discussion turns to Amanda Waller and The Suicide Squad. Will they pop-up during Season Two?

Arrow is winding down, the first season is nearing its conclusion. As we move forward, the show's executive producers have been allowing themselves to talk about future seasons as Arrow has become The CW's #1 show. Names like, The Question, Ted Kord, Nightwing and a few others have been discussed with the showrunners admitting that some are more likely to cameo than others. In a new interview with Andrew Kreisberg, another DC Comics fan favorite is name-dropped for a possible appearance in future episodes.

With A.R.G.U.S., a rather new creation of The New 52 from Geoff Johns and Gene Ha (think Checkmate) figuring prominently in the past few episodes, it's only a matter of time before Amanda Waller and The Suicide Squad show up, right? Said Kreisberg on the subject, "The Suicide Squad is definitely something we've discussed with DC Comics. There's no definitive plans right now to introduce Amanda Waller, but certainly we carefully chose A.R.G.U.S. and did not make Lyla Michaels work for the FBI or CIA. A.R.G.U.S. is the S.H.I.E.L.D. of the DC Universe, and it felt like a fun thing to introduce into our world. And we hope it'll play a bigger role in Season 2."

The current roster of The Suicide Squad features one name that has already appeared on Arrow, Deadshot and also includes the likes of Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, Black Spider and El Diablo. Classic members of the supervillain vigilante group include Count Vertigo, The Electrocutioner, Plastique, Bronze Tiger and a host of others. Most of the past members of the group would fit the show's motif of non-powered DC characters. As far as the television show goes, a lot of mystery remains about A.R.G.U.S. and just exactly what it is they do but as Kreisberg stated above, they're likely going to play a bigger role next season. Could Arrow be forced to join the team or will he be trying to stop them?

I would love to see a mini DC Universe on the small screen. Heck DC is dominating in animation, video games, and television. Just hope MOS will kick start a DCU on the big screen.

@JoeMomma29 Just because it has T.V. shows doesn't mean it's "dominating"; Smallville, Birds of Prey, and Arrow...that's 1/3 that's been a good watch (NOT talking about Smallville either haha).

You're definitely right about animated/games though.

@ sljoint at this point DC is the only thing that has and is on television on a regular basis. Yeah some the shows my suck but if that is all that is on then guess what it is dominating!

I hope they don't bring in the Squad. What's the point? They haven't gotten Deadshot right yet. Where's his mask or at least SOME variation of his costume?

I know they wanted to go realistic with him. So i don't like the idea of them going realistic with the rest of the Squad either.

@PeterDarker- You're not alone my friend. I hoped after he got shot in the eye the first time, that maybe he'd wear a mask in his 2nd appearance at least. But he still hasn't.

Again there's no point to bringing in the Suicide Squad if NONE of them will even resemble their comicbook counterparts.

Their version of Deadshot is a bad sign for what they have planned for the Suicide Squad

Arrow's Deadshot looks fine, just hope we get to see a bit more development of him as a character. I have a feeling hes just gonna be killed by Dig and that'll be it.

DC should really use this show to introduce certain characters for their movie universe. We all know Marvel will be doing something like that with the S.H.E.I.L.D. show, so DC should at least try and beat them to the punch.

I have read that Arrow has a no super powers type motto, but screw that. They already hinted at Coast City. It would be great if they used this as a way of expanding the DCCU.

Saying A.R.G.U.S is a DC version of shield is like saying Avengers is Marvel's version of the JLA, both companies have been inspired/copied each other for years.

The trick is once you've copied an idea is to make it unique to your particular needs or company.

As for deadshot, I think we will see his, like others, costume evolve other time. I actually think Arrow's outfit will get an update early season too.

Also, and I know I am probably in the minority, but I would like to see Arrow brought in to a wider DC universe. Not as a main character, but be a way to do things different to Marvel.

The Suicide Squad would need its own show. The group and all its personalities is too big for a guest spot on Arrow. But it would fit in nicely with the Arrow universe as most of the groups heroes/ villains are not meta-human - the early incarnation of the group 80's-90's would be perfectly suited.

Tonight's episode was the best one so far. So glad that Oliver has finally seen through his "My mom's not a suspect" crap. His bitchiness and naivete about his family was starting to get to me. How could a "super" hero be so close-minded to not even consider his mom had a role? Now I see that the purpose of this was so that we could see his character develop, and see the "vigilante" become "green arrow."

GREAT series- the finale should be EPIC.

I don't mind Deadshot's outfit in the show, the actor is even okay, albeit not the Floyd I know but again this is not the Green Arrow from the comics so whatever I can deal with it....

My one huge problem is the tattoo thing. He is an assassin who kills people and then gets the victims name inked onto his skin... that is lowest denominator cool. I mean come on, he essentially is wearing a signed confession sheet under his shirt.

@KungFuGee I kind of agree but they could use Arrow as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff.

I don't want another show about superheroes without their super powers.Really what's the point of adapting a comic book in to live action if you're going to strip the super from the show.
ndwwrestler2
ndwwrestler2 - 5/2/2013, 11:10 AM
@Gurillapud That's probably why they decided to adapt Green Arrow instead of someone like Green Lantern, Flash, Or Wonder Woman.

But if this show gets renewed for a 3rd season, then this show is going to get heros with powers appearing. If the writers are smart though, they will take it slow, before they introduce the powered heros.
