Summer Glau spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her role as Isabel Rochev, a new adversary for Oliver in season 2.
Glau: "I didn't know much. When they originally invited me to come recur, it was more about her being a powerful business woman and I thought it was interesting they asked me to play this role because the powerful women I've previously played have been more action-oriented. So when I came to set I knew this would be something different and then on my first day Andrew [Kreisberg, executive producer] asked if I'd looked her up or if I knew what she becomes. I had no idea! I looked Isabel up online and came back the next day asking for my veil and goggles [laughs]! He said we'd warm up to that, but she has to start out slow."
And Isabel's view towards Oliver and Queen Consolidated after now finding herself in a partnership after an unsuccessful bid to takeover the company?
Glau: "It's very mysterious in the first few appearances Isabel makes, but it's going to get really cool. In episode six and eight more and more of her backstory comes out; she has deep-seated reasons for what she's doing. They're revealing it slowly, but she has a specific reason for why she's there and why she's so wrapped up in Queen Consolidated. This is a woman who is passionate about running this business with integrity; she discusses that with Oliver and there are hints she's a villainess, but I also think she's worked very hard for what she has and she's displaying some complex feelings about how she wants the company run. It'll be interesting to see the balance between her and Oliver and how the company should be run. In the next few episodes, she's going to get more and more curious about this man -- why he's not showing up for meetings, why he's disappearing at strange times and what's going on with him.
A mutual respect is going to grow between Oliver and Isabel; they're testing boundaries and in a power struggle, but there are a few twists along the way that might bring them closer. Eventually it's going to come out that Isabel might have a deeper connection with Queen Consolidated than what you've seen so far."
Arrow star Stephen Amell took to Facebook to answers some fan questions. Of note, Amell was asked about those rumors of Amell (and Grant Gustin) showing up in the stinger for Batman vs Superman. Amell doesn't say yes or no, only that he's aware of the rumors.
Emily Bett Rickards spoke with THR about a number of topics, including whether Felicity will get her own adversary or personal vendetta as Oliver has/had the List and Diggle has Deadshot.
Emily Bett Rickards: "You know, I don't think she can. When Felicity was brought into this superhero/criminal-like realm, she didn't have someone like Deadshot. She'd never been in a life-or-death or kill situation. The only way I can see that happening is maybe a revenge sort of thing but she doesn't strike me as wanting revenge. She just wants justice. I think she feels really deeply through other people. She's got a really high emotional IQ and I think she gets everybody's adversaries, if that makes sense."
And there are reports that Felicity and Barry Allen have great chemistry and scenes together in upcoming episodes. Maybe Oliver will get jealous?
Rickards: "[Felicity and Barry] really fun, they're really flirty and they're really smart. Both of them are extremely intelligent characters and I think the audience will enjoy that. Grant is a great actor. We had a great time filming and I think that will show on-camera too."
And on the spoiler front, TV| Line reports that episode 6 will be must-see-tv for "Olicity" shippers.
" I hear Episode 6 is a big one for “Olicity.” In possibly related news, I also hear Oliver is going to aim his arrow at one of the women in his life very soon. (I’m talking about his penis.)" Is that Felicity? Isabel? Or Laurel? Who would you "aim" your "arrow" at?

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine." |
